Feeling low after general anesthetic..

I haven't felt this down in a while.
Is it just me or has anyone else felt out of it and depressed after receiving GA?
Having sleep problems, talking bullshit, and feeling worthless since coming home from the hospital.
It's just weird.

  • How long has it been? I would say anything is to be expected within the first 24 hours. Its usually not recommended to be alone for the first 24 hours either...

I'm sure you will feel better soon though :)

I only know the 24 hour rules and reactions from my last job...

Maybe related to some pain medications you are taking? I would suggest calling the Dr, or a health line (not sure if you have those there) but, I'm sure it will pass. Feel better :)

Not really on any pain meds, got some which I take if required, taken a few times but not a lot.
I read on some sites others have had these side affects that can last weeks to months
    Thanks.

I woke up from a GA crying my eyes out for no reason.......Just crying my eyes out.....I must say, I felt better after that. :D

Felt completely knackered for the first few days, couldn't string a sentance together. Then on about the fourth day cried for most of the day, wanted to do loads of stuff and couldn't. Felt a bit more myself after that. Not 100% but getting there.

Wow. I've been knocked out 3 times and each time I've woken up, I've asked if I can go home within 30 minutes....or less. That's not an exaggeration either. Then they always make me stay for a while "just in case" and the nurses/doctors always marvel at how well I recover from general anaesthetic. I never felt low etc afterwards either. Next day or even later the same day I'm totally fine. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

Hope you're feeling a bit better today, Thoughts Arrive.

Can you get up and move around some? And try to drink a lot of water? Maybe you can help get any residual part of the GA out of your system, though I bet the last thing you want to do is get up and move around.
