    im not sure about the chinese made ones
    i have played some squires that are pretty decent though. im not sure if the price is really " priced to move" though

    i think new squires are not a whole lot more.

    Start with acoustic. you'll toughen up your fingers better, and it just sounds lovely. No effects to mask your progress (or lack thereof) either.

    I just started playing about 2 weeks ago and I'm using a Squier Start. It's working just fine for me.
