    They think they've discovered the body of the guy who did the shootings. Looks like he killed himself...

    There are a few from Cumbria on here.... Dave Grolsch is another... I'm sure they will be perfectly fine.

    oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

    All OK my side of the County, although at work (NHS) we kept getting emails saying don't go over there and if you were over there to keep indoors and don't go out. Did make a rapid call to my hubby at about 12.30 when I heard about it as he's often in West Cumbria with work, fortunately he was miles away today.

    Dave Grolsch is a lot closer than me. So hopefully all ok with him.

    Yes I heard that too, presumably he shot himself.

    Yep! Saw that on a special report on the bbc, earlier.

    EDIT: apparently, there are now 12 people killed. :shock:

    how tragic. i am sorry for all of the victims....i am glad that all on the board that reside near there are ok. sounds like the guy had a sniper rifle...i didn't know those could be freely obtained on your side of the atlantic?

    no guns can be freely obtained. but he didnt have a sniper rifle... reports here are that he had a shotgun. These are legally controlled, unlike sniper rifles which are simply illegal, by means of a permit, licence, etc... It's a vast rural region and has a lot of farmers on it who are allowed shotguns. He may have obtained it via those means... he would have known farmers.
