Did Tipper Gore ever battle with PJ over ratings labels?

I remember back in the late 80s or early 90s when Tipper was on her roll about having labels on albums with bad lyrics that it was a big issue with Guns n Roses. With her in the news today, I thought about that timeframe. Did PJ ever have a battle with her?

    Wasn't Eddie Ralph Nader's sidekick in 2000?

I seem to remember Al Gore being one of the "two evils".

No but she must have battled Al over them because they are splitting up after 40 years together!

Actually I believe this was a big fiasco in 1984. So now your really gonna feel old! :D
I know the lead singer from Twisted Sister was the one that testified. The Ramones wrote a song about it called "Censorsh*t" :D

Ed supported Nader in 2000. He played a Nader rally (I know he played a few) but he played one in NYC the night before Houston 1.

I see both sides of the whole explict sticker on an album. I mean do you really want your 4 year old or 6 year old kid listening to say Eminem's Marshall Mathers LP or Korn or whatever? Songs with really strong vulgar lyrics. I see the point from that perspective.

However, it's hard to figure how an album recieves a sticker. As PJ drops a few cuss words here and there, but no album has the sticker. The touring band dvd did on the plastic wrapping. Maybe it might just be the artwork that can get a sticker cause they say "explicit content."

It's just a notice to parents really saying hey your kid may hear some "Adult" lyrics and themes in the music.
That is weird though how some albums seems to escape the advisory sticker though.

the whole controversey/debate was like one of the top 100 moments within the last 25 years of rock. Lots of people testified like Dee Snider, maybe the Ramones (can't remember. The song that sparked Tipper's fight was "Darling Nikki" by Prince.

On Itunes though it lists which specific songs are explicit.
