Anyone into geocaching?

Just watched a movie called Splinterheads last night, really good indy flick! Anyone who has a streaming Netflix device I highly recommend it. Anyway one of the subplots was the girl did geocaching in her spare time, I had never heard of it up until now but seems really cool, fun thing to do on the weekend or something. So has anyone ever tried it? How hard it is to find the boxes people hide? Ever find anything really cool inside?
For anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about check out the video... http://www.geocaching.com/
and a clip from the movie here http://www.geocaching.com/about/default.aspx

Certainly heard of it, but never participated. Probably should get into GPS, but have never found myself needing it. Sun rises in the east and sets in the west. I can pretty much figure out where I am by that. If lost, follow draining water down hill and eventually you will run into a girl in a bikini.

It does seem like it could be a cool hobby, but I've never done it. Seems like I got a lot more things to do on the weekends than going around chasing crap people buried.

It's pretty fun esp. for the kids. Some of the caches are damn hard to find and extremely frustrating. Coolest things we've found are called travel bugs. You pick them up and move them on to a new cache and track where they've been and where they are going. Some of them are a series too kind of like a scavenger hunt.

I'm into it. Found over 400. Gets me to places I've never been or wouldn't normally go. I also placed one and enjoy when others find it. I recommend it if you ever have the opportunity.

I think you've created an entirely new game. I think it would be wildly more popular.

True, but only if you can keep the bears from finding the cache. Those hibernating hucksters love to get wasted and look at porn.

it would be tough with a car one, not sure if you could even do it. Handheld units typically put you within 5 feet of your target, but include a compass on them which guide you in the direction you need to head

Bump, only because I am a HUGE geocacher!

Just got number 900. I have 17 geocaches I hid, all named after albums and a "trackable" named after PJ: Vs.

"A Travel Bug is a Trackable that moves from place to place, picking up stories along the way. Here you can add your own story, or live vicariously through each bug's adventures."

Sorry to nerd-out on you all.
