Does Kufala (or someone) cut stuff out of the bootlegs?

I was twittering during the Columbus show. (Yeah, I know, I know... but it wasn't a lot, just the song titles.)

Anyway, i'm listening to the MP3's now. At one time, the MP3's were synched up to the times listed on my Twitter account. Over the past hour or so, those times have become a few minutes off of each other.. the MP3's are well ahead of the Twitter.

Am I losing it?

I think you're right. Probably some slick editing here and there to fit shows on 2 discs?

I was listening to "Encore Break 2" and Ed mentions how they took a second backstage to discuss what song to play for Brian Shaffer, the missing fan. (Check the stickied thread for more info.) Yet, listening back to it, it became obvious that they would have had no time at all to discuss those things.

30-45 seconds here and there does add up.

Don't they use CDRs, compared to the 2000/2003 boots which were more of an official CD? The CDR nature of it could mean something.

Yep. CD-R's. All in all I think Kufala is doing a great job. Its not like we are missing anything too important. Though...I have been going back through my 2000 boots and am thinking I've been too judgemental about them in past posts. I have a ton of the European tour shows and the encore energy is awesome! Especially the Italian shows!
As for the present day editing of shows, I think you are right on. Not sure it's a big deal though. The encores have been cut out since what, 2003?

Yeah, if they cut out three (or so) minutes of cheering, that's ok... as long as we don't miss anything important.

Yeah, after hearing the Columbus boot in its entirety, I noticed that the encore breaks (unlike previous years) have been shortened to their bare necessity - just the relevant parts where Ed says something. A real encore break can last anywhere between 2-10 minutes. I can understand why they're trimmed since it really is just wasted minutes of a crowd cheering. I remember trimming the encore breaks of certain 2005 boots in order to have them fit on a CD. I'm sure the same logic is being applied here.

Sometimes you'll get the crowd chanting, or such as was with the 2010 Las Vegas CD, you can hear them sing "Happy Birthday" to the band.

Hopefully they won't cut out that stuff.

I just ordered my Columbus boot today...did Ed's dialog about Brian remain on the boot? Hoping it did.

yes, it's all there. I don't think they cut anything substantial off the boots usually, just crowd noise.
words seem so out of place.

We just reproduce the masters we are provided.

In my opinion it makes playback more enjoyable when you don't have to listen through to 3-4 minutes of crowd noise while the string section sets up. Flows better and keeps you engaged in the show. None of the energy is lost.

Bottom line is they are a pretty kick ass high quality documentation of what went down at the show.

I've finished listening to MSG2 and foolishly tried to relive the magical moments.
And as fast as the boots arrived ,
I noticed they took out some of the talking from Ed just prior to HUNGER STRIKE, as well as the kind and complimentary comments from that Band Of Horses guy Ben, after Hunger Strike .
I know its minor , but clerarly has been edited.

The tracks still sound fantastic .
This was the only show of this tour ( along with Newark and MSG 1 )
that I had 10C tickets for, which were also pretty sweet down in sec 6 .
    Awesome show !

i 'd love longer recorded encore breaks - we put them on at work really loud and pretend people are cheering for us. it's quite sad, but the cheering crowd is the only time we feel any love :(
