Access to Pearl jam's music and concerts in particular isn't the time consuming, mailbox checking ordeal it used to be. Unfortunately those are what the days were like when i started my PJ 1990-present audio collection. I became obsessed in trying to obtain every Pearl Jam show that there is a known recording of. Well after around 15 years of this obsession, i have come pretty darn close. I may be missing a few 91/92 shows here and there, but for the most part, I have everything.
I dont say this to brag. I hope it doesnt come across as that when you are reading this. Im telling you this because I have created a Pearl jam bootleg sharing page on Facebook. Feel free to join and send me a friend request. I want to share my collection because it is a very beautiful thing being able to listen to any PJ concert throughout the years. Though some recordings suffer in quality. Also, Im trying to perfect my collection because I dont have every show in lossless format (FLAC, SHN). I have many shows in MP3. So I would like your help in posting something I possibly may not have or posting a lossless format if I only have a show in MP3.
I prefer to strictly keep the posting to audio, no Youtube please. However, if somebody has a specific Youtube PJ video, keep in mind that I am able to download the Youtube video, in most cases, and save it as my own personal video file. Moreover, i can then convert that to MP3 so one can burn it to disc or listen to it on your iPod. Send me a PM if you want such a thing done. While going through each year, I and other people are more than welcome to post compilations, single songs etc. Ill post requests for certain circumstances.
All that said, yes there are many places you can go and get PJ shows, but I thought this would be cool because as Facebook friends, we can all discuss a show that was posted, keep track of who was there. It will be more interactive. I think it will be pretty cool. Not to mention, we can all perfect our collection, or start one, by having all the people in the group help track down the best sources and formats for each individual show if I happen to not have it. At the end, hopefully most of us will have a COMPLETE PEARL JAM CONCERT AUDIO COLLECTION!!!! With only the best recordings, sources and formats. Im open to suggestions.
Oh, Im sure there are quicker ways in doing this, but I want to go through year by year, not rush it so we can discuss or hear from people that were at the show. And give us time to find and post what ever format is missing. Whether it be FLAC or MP3.
