I just had a sweet dream
that turned into a nightmare
after I awoke

I dreamed the universe
gave you back to me
just for a week
the last week that you were in the hospital
when you could have been home
when you should have been home
but the very doctor
that hastened your decline
would not allow us that time

I had you with me for just that one week
I was able to love you for just that one week
then I had to give you back

Bittersweet, really
The universe is kind and unkind
at the same time

It was SO real
until I woke up
and reality hit me
with the "you are really gone" brick

You are gone
My best friend is gone
Love is
gone

It was a dark bird
that brought me the word
my spirit in bend
with nowhere to send
news of the end

the end
fuck 'em if they can't take a joke
