The Vest Television Drama of All-Time?
Mr. Rogers? I guess that was more of a cardigan...
    Something with Jim Tressel?

You know who had a great vest? Han Solo. Wait, that's real life not a tv drama.

NYPD Blue overstayed it's welcome, but man, for the first 5 seasons or so it was up there.

West Wing had my favorite dialogue writing of any TV show.

    Deadwood was awesome

    Can't forget about the Sopranos.

(Hmm, I've seen a lot of funky hats, but I can't recall any character with an obnoxious vest.)

I gave up on American dramas a few years ago. The "propaganda placement" of pro-globalism, pro-pharma, etc. took me right out of the plot every time. Unfortunately the same crap is inserted into British shows as well.

Luckily, I had the tremendous fortune of watching Life On Mars in April of 2009. [The original UK one, not any remakes from Spain or America.] It is hands down the BEST SHOW I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE!!!!!!!!! I am completely spoiled for television from now on. But LOM was so deliciously transcendent, that I'm grand about being spoilt.

Oh, and gritty crime mysteries are my favourite. Life on Mars had a light touch in some spots. So for serious drama, my faves are:

    1: Cracker starring Robbie Coltrane

    2: Prime Suspect

    3: Touching Evil

The Cracker movie titled 'To Be A Somebody' from series 2 probably features the best acting I ever had the privilege to enjoy. The regular cast with guest star Robert Carlyle take the viewers TO SCHOOL!

I sold my Cracker collection several months ago. *weeps* The discs were not recordable.

    NCIS

and then of course, the single greatest piece of entertainment ever...Angel. I own the box set and it begat my vampire fascination. Something Tom Cruise or Kiefer Sutherland couldn't do.

In a couple of years, Justified will be up there. That's a great new show.

    agreed, awesome show.

also St. Elsewhere was damn good.

Miami Vice has to get some votes too. Looks cheesy now but was groundbreaking then.

The vest drama would have to be something with Bruce Willis in it.

    The best
    Life on Mars (UK version)
    Spooks
Also just seen the end of the latest Damages which I thought was excellent. I'll probably think of more later.
