there are words
that I did not till, plant or harvest
yet I've developed a taste for these
satisfying, life sustaining
a temporary end for a selfish need

feed my thoughts
and quicken my pace
with this sweet aftertaste
as I nibble the syllables from my fingertips
I know I'll be back for more
