Bamboo Back Scratcher. (Part IVX)

Memory
the day I spent walking.

Trees everywhere were so lively
in their sacred stillness.

I remember the dead leaves
as if my own hand.

My footprint
matched that of snowflakes
to rain.

In some ways
the river bent around me
I around the river.

But I was no leaf
no leaf to sail home
no leaf to sea.

And you were there
you are always there.

And when the sun opened
you were a hello
to my warming face.

My whiskers
were icicles melting in joy
as you cleaned me.

In some ways
the river bent around me
I around the river.

But I was no leaf.
no leaf to sail home
no leaf to sea.
