Did your mother insult him by offering him less than what he wants for his shirt or trash him for his asking price?

    Nope. Not at all.
  • People can sell what they want. For all you knew this guy spent $800 to get to the show cause he lives in Wyoming or something.

Thas true!!! Im a huge BoSox fan but wouldn't pay that much. At the same time i got a hold of 4 msg 2 posters. Have sold one on ebay for 141!!! another one is due up tomorrow and its already @ 95! As you know I paid only 30 but if you have the money/desire to pay for it...they are yours.

I felt some guilt when they ran out and fans saw me w a few posters tubes but @ the same time I paid 400 for my back staged first row tickets (priceless for me)...One mans trash is another ones treasure

That price is pretty outrageous but how about the markup the band charges for shirts? $35-$40 for a shirt they probably pay no more than $5 a piece for.

Why do people forget that we live in a free market. People can sell whatever they want, within reason and the law. Nobody is forced to buy anything. We choose to buy or not buy...just don't buy. Unless of course you want it...really, really badly

But the venue takes probably half that amount, so they might be taking $17.50 from a $35 t shirt, then minus out the production costs of the shirt.
ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you. :)

jjajaja they are my BoSOX...after Pearl jam they are the only other reason I take a place to see someone play (music or sports). Decided to go to NYC for the back to back shows and I had somewhere to stay.

So why then have the cost of their shirts gone up steadily over the past 5-7 years and the quality gone way down? A blank hanes tshirt at Michaels or ACMoore, of better quality than most of the recent tour shirts, is the same exact price as it was back then...$2-$3 a piece. T-shirts at Target are still $9.99-$19.99 yet a $25 tour shirt from 2003 is now $40.

Maybe they're trying to make more than a couple of bucks this time around? I got one of those gray saw-blade shirts last week from them, and the quality was much better than the cheap thin green cotton ones from a couple of tours ago. The green one from (i believe) 2006 I could see thru. The one from last week is much higher quality printing and shirt. I'm guessing it's costing more to have produced now, and they're trying to make a little more money on it now.

They're probably making a lot of money from ones sold on their website, and very little on ones sold at shows, and they probably have to sell for the same price whether sold at a venue or on their website.

Great to hear the quality has improved. I have a VFC shirt from 2004 with the Showbox poster on the back that is awesome quality. On the other hand, I have a 2006 Irving Plaza shirt that is as thin as a store bran paper towel. My PJ Philly shirt from october was pretty good quality and it's good to see the new ones are better quality as well.

Yeah, these are really top-notch as far as t-shirts go. Whoever the vendor is, I hope they keep them.

Going back to your Target question, I'm guessing that Target has their own production company that prints tshirts, and that they might license the imagery from artists for printing, but that's a guess...

I agree that we live in a free market society, but this is just wrong. To purposely buy multiple items just to flip it, robbing other fans of having access to a poster as well, that is well, I don't want to risk another board warning, so let's just say I don't approve of this AT ALL.

You obviously didn't feel ENOUGH guilt. And to justify it because of the amount of money you spent on your ticket???

The guy selling the shirt, to me it depends if he bought 3 of them so he could make some money, or if he just needs the money now and is selling something important to him.
