I can't stop listening to this song from The National. High Violet is an outstanding album.

anyways, these guys are top dog in indie rock right now. they deserve it too. how any band could top an album as stunning as boxer, especially with all the hype that followed this record, it would have been easy for them to disappoint alot of folks. but i view high violet as equal to, possibly even better than boxer. its an achievement that is staggering when contemplated. in all honesty i quit my job because of boxer. i was becoming those people in the songs. so for me high violet came out, having to sort of equal such a personal record for me. amazingly it equaled and surpassed all hype i had.
High Violet has so many beautiful moments. Vanderlyle is so gorgeous. the tone of it, near the end when the strings take off. the line about chandeliers. jesus... AFraid of Everyone with Sufjans haunting background vocals, and that lovely guitar riff. Bloodbuzz is gorgeous and i love how matt sings bees and me.
Boxer describes how it feels to be in your twenties. this album continues on in that tradition. High Violet has so many lines i relate to.
An unbelievable special band. this band soundtracks the last 6 years of my life, the confusion, the anger, the melancholy, the being lost, the feeling one gets working some mundane job. its all there.
love the whole album though
