Pearl Jam's 20th in __________: MY idea...

Ok, so I MAYBE they should have the 20th anniversary show in Seattle, but here are some of my ideas for better places -

San Diego
Chicago (Soldier Field again anyone???)
The Gorge (sort of Seattle)
New York City/Philly area (in before northeast over-saturation)

Now, wherever they play, here's my idea of what should happen:

They play 3 to 4 shows in the chosen venue. If it turns out to be a big stadium, then only 1 or maybe even 2. Now, I know some of you will disagree with this idea, but hear me out - they should play a selected few albums in their entirety.

Now I COMPLETELY understand the adrenaline rush you get from not knowing what song is next, but honestly, would you rather NOT know what song is next and have it end up being Evenflow (nothing against Evenflow), or would you rather be aware of what song is next and have it be Sleight of Hand or Habit? I'd choose the latter.

As far as what albums get played what nights, IMO they should have a fanclub vote (or not) to see which albums we want played, then just play that many, and maybe or maybe not announce which nights they'd get played.

I know it sounds kind of obscure and that it might slow the show down, but think of how insane it would be to hear an album like Binaural in all it's album-ordered glory performed live.
Fucking killer.

I'd be all for hearing an album straight through. Besides, we'd getting 20 more songs from outside the album part of the set. It was great the times they've done it in the past.

Waddup with the Hating on Seattle????
Without it you would have no Pearl Jam to be a fan of.
Perhaps we can talk about some great band from New Haven so that you can plan their entire 20th Anniversary for them.

damnn dude I didn't see your thread, I hope you don't think I'm ripping you off. I'm actually ripping off Springsteen.

I don't agree at all with 3 albums a night. That's excessive IMO. Plus that's a BULKY show. I think it would be great to see a Main set with 15-19 songs, put that night's album in the Encore 1 slot, then come out for a normal Encore 2 (and maybe even Encore 3). Tell me that wouldn't be absolutely mind-blowing? The main-set is done and you think "wow we still have a whole album of songs left and a 2nd encore!".

And to be totally honest, I don't wanna see Jack on stage with them again. Matt Cameron is Pearl Jam's drummer and has held that title longer than anyone else. Just my opinion.

Actually Tom Tomorrow is from New Haven.

So were The Carpenters, arguably the only act more musically inclined than Pearl Jam.

No worries. Just when I saw your thread I remembered having my own thread for the past year on the precise same subject.

PJ's average is about 30 songs a night. Three albums per night would be roughly the same quantity of songs.

I'd LOVE to see Abbruzzese playing the funk songs again - I miss the funk PJ used to have. But I love what each drummer has written on their own. It would be a nice thing to honor all of the band's members, and it would be great to hear them play their own material as it was on the albums too.

I think a free show at gasworks park in Seattle would be perfection. Logistics would be a nightmare though. Maybe not free. How about the price of admission to their first show at the Off Ramp. :D

I don't care where they play. I just want to be there. And there better be more than just 1 "anniversary" show because it is going to be a nightmare trying to get tickets for this show or shows.

Fan Club members should be limited to buying tickets to only one of the anniversary shows so that we all have a fair shot at attending one of the shows.

Four nights in Nashvegas at Bridgestone Arena.
Maybe even throw in some donations for the flood.
    That would be sweet.................

When I asked Stone he said it would most likely be Seattle or San Diego but that he really didn't know yet.

No, just the opposite actually. He said it hadn't ever come up. He hadn't thought of it at all. This was about 3 weeks ago though so maybe now with the break in the tour it's something they can start to plan.

so, he said it hadn't come up, but he narrowed it down to two cities on his own? Am I missing something?

yeah, it went something like: "you know we haven't talked about it at all but if I had to guess I would say it would probably be in Seattle or San Diego."

Im wondering if the whole anniversary thing is going to be a fizzle and nothing will happen. As far as birthdays go, 21 is usually the big one.
Maybe we are the only ones making a big deal about it... though I'd dearly love a reason to jump on a plane and go see them this year...
