That is a tough one my fury little friend. I made the mistake of not buying one at the start, thinking It would get crushed and shit, and when I went to buy it, they were all sold out :( :( So I ended up buying it on ebay and getting it framed.

Then I went to another pj concert 12 days later and I bought it as soon as I got in, and and I placed it strategically under my seat, making sure it was safe from me and others.

I bring a white trash bag with rubber bands. Roll the poster, put a couple of rubber bands around it, place in the bag, and you're set. Every poster I've bought has remained mint using this method.

All the places I have been to in the last 5 years will NOT let you bring in a poster tube.
Best idea...Get the $5 tour poster they sell at separate tables from the Merch stand. If your lucky the guy selling will have a plastic bag, like one you put a sleeve of cups into. He usually has the rubber bands too, but we bring them just in case. If they don't have a bag go to the concession stand and ask for one, they will be happy to give their garbage to a wacky person looking for a plastic cover for their poster.
In Hartford 2006 the guy made a fortune. Everyone was in line to buy the $5 "protective" poster. It helps keep the ends from any damage since it is usually much bigger.

I leave it on my seat and keep my eye on it. No floor, it will get crushed for sure. Mostly in 10c seats so everyone around has an idea of the poster situation. If you don't get 10c seats, keep an extra watch out.

I took a poster tube with me last year. Have it open and ready to be searched before going into the venue.

Was that in Europe? They don't let us bring crap in around here. No poster tubes for a while anyway. Maybe it's the person at the doors who decides?

Buy it from 10c 6 months later :) This will allow you to tailgate and pre-funk properly before the show.

Thats my take on it now. I would rather pregame than get a poster, have to keep an eye on it all show, sit around in the venue for awhile before the and pay 7 bucks a beer. I would rather drink at the bar or in the lot and hang out with my friends until it's "time". If I need to have it, I'll find one.

Same thing in philly on '06. I always brought rubber bands with me, however this time a guy in the other merch. table had a heavy plastic sleeve for $1.00 each. As soon people figured out he had these (and he had a shit load) he made a killing. The sleeve was great, very heavy duty and I could rubber band the end of the sleeve. I took the sleeve on several other west coast dates and still have it. hahahaha. i plan on taking it to every show I go to.

Go to Lowes or Home depot and get one of these, it will last you a long time.

it is a risk for sure...in Toronto in 05, brought in a tube no problem...Toronto 06 first night, they gave me a hard time and made me "check it"...fair enough...second night, flat out refused me entry despite all my appeals. Had to toss it. Don't ever count on security to understand how to properly enforce the rules.

At some venues, they'll have a merch stand setup outside the venue, I have been able to score a poster early and put it in my car before going in.

If you cant bring a poster tube, make a poster out of a big piece of poster board.

Roll up that sucker + a garbadge bag, and you have a decent poster tube.

At the Dublin show I got my friend to hold it, coz he said he was gonna hang back for thewhole thing. That worked out pretty well :) Now it's up on my wall. in mint condition....well as near to mint as you can get with blu-tac holding it up.

Yep, in Dusseldorf. Seems like it's pot-luck depending on the venue or the jobsworth on the door!

Which department in those stores would you think carries that? I'd gladly buy a few to share with friends for the upcoming Camden shows.

DON'T leave it on your seat! I did that with my Gorge '05 and during the show some drunk chick decided she was going to walk/dance across the seats and stepped on it. When I told her to watch out she just said "It's just a poster!" I had some very violent thoughts towards her in those few seconds. Not a big deal cause in the end it framed out nicely.

At the Dublin show i bought mine after the encore break and just stood back for the last part. For the shows after that i just ordered them from the ames bros website sometime after the tour. It's too much hassle to be carrying it around at a gig. Especially when your standing.

leave one person in your group outside, as soon as the gates open go in and get one, pass it back out throught the fence and have the outside person put it in the car.

i've also bought myself an extra lawn ticket just so i could go in, buy posters, leave, and get back in

I just roll it up and put a rubber band on it and then put it on the chair. Not much has happened to it in all the years.
I can't believe how the PJ tour market has exploded! In 98 they used to just be on mail order and they were like $10 or so. It's crazy.
