Walmart selling iPhone 3gs for 97.00$

In another sign that a new iPhone is likely in the wings from Apple, Wal-Mart today began selling the 16GB version of the iPhone for $97 with a two-year AT&T contract, the Associated Press reports.

The price cut is down from $197. We checked the Wal-Mart website and the deal appears to be available only in stores.

Apple declined to comment to the AP. A report at CNNMoney.com notes that the $97 pricetag is slightly lower than the $99 clearance price some tech analysts had pegged for the phone ahead of a new model coming out. The model was still $199 elsewhere this morning, including the Apple web site and AT&T.

Apple's developer conference kicks off on June 7 in San Francisco. The company on Monday said CEO Steve Jobs will deliver the keynote.

Those apple fucks! Just bought the wife and I the 3gs a month ago. Spent 400$.

    Jsut bought one myself a couple weeks ago, was trying to hold out for the new one but broke my phone and needed one. Plus i heard the price of the new one was goign to be insane and honestly, the features on gizmodo were nothing that i really needed.

    I agree. I have no use for the front loading camera which is a big rumor.
    I have a 3gs right now and it does everything I need it to do.

    I will wait until 6/7 to make my final decision though

    My renewal is up in mid June, so at least I'll get to see what Jobs announces at the conference, but this "iPhone coming to Verizon" rumor/chatter has been going on for the last year and a half, so I'm not holding my breath on it happening soon.

    I hear the incredible is well incredible. 8mp camera and 480p video. There's a new motorola droid that was "found" in a gym. 720p video with an hdmi cable hookup
