Damn, this makes me feel old. I graduated high school in 2000, right after Binaural was released, so these two things will always be related for me.

Me too. Class of 2000. I am also feeling old.

"Light Years" was the song I was very attached to during this time as friends and significant others were about to disperse across the country. Very dramatic. Very "high school."

This is my friend Kristen's "first" PJ album... it was the first new album released after she became a fan. I had moved out to Philly from the Pittsburgh area for an internship, and she took a road trip out from Pgh so we could listen to it for the first time together.

    We were both disappointed. :(

Only recently have I grown to appreciate some of the tracks on that disc more and more, like Nothing As It Seems and, especially, Rival. Thin Air was my "first dance" song at my wedding about 5 yrs ago. Light Years was a song I so wanted to attach to, since I had lost my sister 9 months prior to the album's release, but it never clicked w/ me, despite my efforts.

    Happy birthday anyway, old son.

Awww. That was nice. Soon Forget has really grown on me, especially knowing it was start of the road to Into the Wild.

For some reason (probably because it' a great album - duh) I've been listening to this album a ton these days. I love the 3 rockers to start it. Slower songs like Light Years, Thin Air and Of the Girl are just amazing. Then add Grievance, Insignificance, and Rival - just perfect.

Rival - love the tempo and overlap of Ed's lyrics. Let's hope they play this song more often after breaking it out in the 10' tour.

Let's also not forget soon forget...
  • True story. I was at a record store December of 2000 and they had three copies of this record on vinyl. At first I thought about purchasing the records because I thought the album sleeves would look killer on my wall, but I passed. Still kicking myself for that one. As mentioned in a couple of the previous posts, I also graduated from high school in 2000, so this album brings me to a time of new life adventures.
