He sped off into the night
warm beer between his knees
everything making sense
for the first time
clarity
faith
belief
that he was on the right path

gravel under tires
dust in the air
and the sunken barge now visible
what is this place?
how many times has he been here.
and never got it?
how many times could have been
THE time?

memories roll in like waves
the sense of belonging overpowering
the wind speaking in a hushed tone
only audible through the leaves
and the power of knowing the end
feels warm, comforting
like a long lost friend,
yet to be born

the horsepower under foot
of the mustang, a weapon
a way to destroy all that
came before this very moment
and all that could be.
a moment in time
lost,…
upon,… no one
Peace, Love.

I hear rearview mirror playing the loudest it can go in my head and its 1993 and I don't care who I kill, just looking for a way out. Probably not what you meant dear Wolf but what I got.

    Wolf,

It could be my imagination, but I think with every passing piece, your writing voice becomes stronger and stronger. Not that you need any validation from me.

I like this one - as always - I enjoy your poetry. It definetly brings me back - Lots of good times in that Ford Gran Torino. That was my choice of weapon.

I'm sensing a different tone than of late. This sounds like an emancipation of sorts. It is, of course, beautiful.
(I drive a 99 grand am v6 with 160,000+ miles. The body is falling apart around it but I will drive it until it just won't go. I wish I could write an homage to it. I love my car.)
fuck 'em if they can't take a joke

I feel the same about my old apple green Jag, same year about the same miles. My homage to it is its PRLJAMN plate. I love my car, its got its old car quirks. Like it tries to lock me out of the car :wtf: kind of a mind of its own but behind the wheel with PJ cranked I feel empowered and free!
