saw them last night at a nice little dive in town, the kitchen doesn't have a big selection but it's soooo good.
i ate dinner and had a beer from a local brewery while they did their soundcheck about 30ft from me. it was the original 3 (efrim, sophie and thierry from gy!be) with jessica from black ox orkestar (i think she's been on all but the first album) and some drummer/keyboardist/percussionist.
i was able to get right in front. they opened with the 2nd and 3rd song from their new album and were amazing from the first note. unbelievable show. only down side was there was this group i think from new orleans (at 1 point 1 yelled 'play new orleans!') most of them were ok but this one girl was fucked up and obnoxious from the get go trying to start a mosh pit and shove people out of the way to get in front, she shoved me into the girl next to me! she kept yelling 'god bless our dead marines!' and they tried to be nice about it saying they had a setlist but they'd see what happens but she wouldn't stop from yelling it every few minutes. at one point jessice said "ok, we heard you" and the girl snapped back "well fuck you!" they finally played it and then she talked through pretty much the whole song and started shouting out other requests. she kept yelling at them most of the show and throwing up both middle fingers at them and shoving people, throwing elbows around....
i saw jessica, sophie and thierry give her looks a bunch of times and once jessica asked her didn't she want to enjoy the show? she said what the fuck did i pay for a ticket for? and that was that. she seemed to have a problem with jessica and kept asking her friends to dare her to fuck with her effects pedals when she's playing.
she kept up and pulled friends up front with her then at one point she threw a beer bottle on stage almost hitting efrim. i didn't see her throw it because her friend was between us and i was watching the stage but jessica pointed at her right afterwards and she had been drinking the same kind of beer moments before. they played for about a minute more then efrim took his guitar off and mumbled 'if you're going to throw a bottle at me i have better things to do' and walked off stage followed shortly by everyone else.
a bouncer came to take her but she kept insisting she didn't do it and all her friends were getting in between her and him and saying it wasn't her, do they have proof. he started to get angry telling them to shut up, he didn't need to talk to them and started to grab the girl that threw the bottle when the band came back out and leaned over and told him they'd be ok, don't worry about it and thanked him. they played one more song then thanked us and left.
