I feel really bad I had to bail on relaying tonight to kill a stupid rat that somehow got into my apartment. I'm sorry for leaving the thread in chaos  I wish I could control vermin getting into my place of living but I guess it's inevitable and was HORRIBLE timing. Again, my apologies for letting you guys down :(

PS: I'm still alive in contrast to what people thought haha

life happens dude. I mean come on, it's not like you were supposed to relay the Boston show and werent allowed back in when you went outside to smoke a cigarette or something, or made up a story like that. That would suck. It is kind of funny though that it was a Rat. Man I love that song.

next time just do this... http://journal.chrisglass.com/2005/09/how_to_catch_a_.html

i never had a rat but it worked in like ten minutes when i had a mouse... and i didn't have to kill him i set him free in a field :)
  • gndcd402gndcd402 Posts: 2,567
FYI, it was not code for anything, I was seriously flipping out haha. The method with toilet paper roll is a genius idea but I think after it is trapped I would kill it for invading my living space anyway. And that's coming from one of the most non-violent people of all time who never killed an animal for sport. The rat was the first animal I've killed willingly :?

    (yes, i guess i am a hippie)

it was probably like 5 inches big and i literally have zero idea how it got in. no gaps where the pipes come in, windows shut, door to backyard has been shut for weeks and it cant get in my front door either. the only way i can think is that my furnace is outside and it somehow climbed in the ventilation??? but how it could squeeze itself through my vents is beyond my belief.

you'd be surprised how fast they can make themselves so flat...there was a hole in the wall behind my heater, that's where my mouse came from... couldn't see it until you unscrewed the front grate part off.

glad to hear it was only 5 inches, i swear i saw a dead one that was practically the size of my dachshund in an alley the other day... i was picturing him in my head -

hope you made it to msg!!

If there is a gap large enough to fit its head through, then it can get in :ugeek:

Prevent rodents from entering your home.

    * Inspect the outside of your home to identify rodent entry points (any opening larger than ½ inch in diameter).
    * Use heavy gauge wire mesh to cover vents.
    * Use metal sheeting to cover holes.

    Glad you caught it :D

Don't sweat it! My wife and I thought edddie was talkin a lot so there was a delay.

Just curious how the relayer thing works? Was upsdan at the show relaying to you? It this an official thing or just something the fans do?

It's a great thing for all of us who could not get tickets. I work in manhattan so it was hard to leave last night knowing pj was only 30 blocks away!

It's an unofficial fan created thing to satisfy us rabid fanatics :P Here's how it works: UPSDan was at the show. He then either text messages me or posts on Twitter what song is being played. I then take that "relay" and post the songs here on the Message Pit!

Had one for a while but was allergic. Definitely will consider getting another one and suffering through the allergies though!

I'll tell the story :P My buddy saw it sitting on a side table of mine and it took off running behind my couch. After about 45 minutes of tipping the couch up and down and chasing after it with a cooler and a cardboard box, it took off across the room and under a small DVD cabinet. Me and my one buddy took two box lids and a box and plugged up the three sides of the cabinet against the wall while my other buddy picked up the cabinet. We had it trapped so after my friend moved the cabinet he caught it in the cooler and sealed it shut. In order to get rid of it, I was cruel and filled a garbage can half full with water and threw it in there and let it drown...

It messed with the wrong person!

Bi wag of the finger for killing that rat. There are so many ways to safely and quickly eradicate it without being needlessly cruel. Rats are very sweet creatures who get a bad image. Don't let irrational fear get the best of you.
