Yes, I used my husband's log-in to post my own personal musings. (is that wrong?)
My name is Christine. I am a Pearl Jam spouse.

Most of you know/have one...someone in your life that isn't as "in to" PJ as you are but quietly (and in my case, with a bit of eye-rolling and complaining!) follow you to the concerts in various locations around the US, get excited when you win the PJ item on eBay you've been watching, traveled to the stores for Backspacer CDs, DVDs, t-shirts. We're out here and we love you.
I just wanted to share a bit of my experience. A view from the other side if you will.

My husband of just over a year, Mike, has been a PJ fan for a long time...may have let the Ten Club membership lapse so we are still waiting to win the lottery but a die-hard fan none-the-less. When PJ came to New England in 2008 and he wanted to go to Hartford and Mansfield twice, I did a LOT of eye-rolling and "Really. Three shows in 4 days? Really."

I am now proud to say that after my 10th show in a little less than 2 years, I get it. I really get it. The whole "community" thing, the whole PJ "4 shows in a row" thing, my bawling during Footsteps in Newark thing. I get it all now. I now find myself the one explaining to co-workers and friends "No. No. It's not the same show every night. Yes, Pearl Jam is still around." I may not be freaking when I hear Sweet Lew live cause I don't realize this is the one-time-and-one-time-only that I will hear it, but I get it. I get it to the point that I purchased a photo by the amazing PJ photog Brian Babineau for the Team McCready charity and have it displayed prominently in my home...it was my 2nd ever show. Traveling around New England seeing the tribute band Backseat Lover also helped me get it...a small "family" that I can learn and grow with in regards to PJ.

So thank you. Thank you to my husband, thank you to the band, and thank you to the community that has allowed me to share a little of their passion.

    Chris

I love this post! I'm lucky enough to have a wife who is just as nuts about the music and shows as I am. She's still not quite as nuts about the posters as I've become, but otherwise, yah, it's great having a built in PJ companion from now on!

She never really knew anything about Pearl Jam other than Daughter and Last Kiss when I met her. I took it upon myself to educate her by introducing her to song after song. Then I took her to her first show: State College '03. Ever since, she's been hooked. She's been to 18 more PJ shows w/ me since that night (and 1 EV solo show).

It's really pretty awesome, and Mike's a lucky dude!

It's Chris....the original "post-er". I just wanted to thank everyone for all the wonderful comments. Makes working at my crappy job a little more tolerable. That and the bootleg of Mansfield #1-08 that's running through my head! You have been such a welcoming "family" to become a part of. Thank you again.

I am a Pearl Jam spouse...I use my hubby's 10C info to play around on the board...I enjoy this perk more then he does.

For years I rolled my eyes and told him to turn it down...eventually I came around. I enjoyed ITW, then began loving the bootlegs...all in secret...he never knew I was coming around.

In 2009 Pearl Jam played Calgary...Virgin Festival... plans were made for him and his friends to go. They always accepted that I wasn't a fan, so no ticket was purchased for me, and no one really thought to ask me if I wanted to go. I got my own off Craigslist and invited myself. It was the best concert I had ever seen!
They announced shows in Seattle that year and then one in Vancouver. My hubby and friends went to the Seattle shows, and I insisted on joining them in Vancouver. (Our 4 kids prevented me from the week long road trip) My hubby's 10C tickets would not be used (his brother has higher seniority) so I bought myself tickets and booked a flight. I invited a friend and we had the best time.

Now I even enjoy watching his Pearl Jam DVD's. I can't believe ever gave him a hard time about it. I am so lucky that when I finally became a fan I had all these resources to feed my obsession.

He created a monster...I love the posters, I read more on this sight and if he wants to listen to something besides Pearl Jam, he needs his own ipod. Its been a fun journey!
