Found out this morning about a fire that partially destroyed a local animal shelter, 12 kitties died :( News story is http://www.ktvu.com/news/23620001/detail.html

Local folks, if you want to help the Berkeley Humane Center, they're needing foster homes for pets, as well as donations to help rebuild. Here's the link: http://berkeleyhumane.org/

Just makes me heartsick. My sister was having dinner with a friend last nite across from the shelter and they stopped by to visit the animals. She was playing with the kittens and now we don't know if they were part of the causalties :(

    I can't imagine the terror they must have felt being trapped in a cage while the smoke and flames overtook them. Breaks my heart to think about it.

    That's what has been nagging at my heart all day, what they went through. And the ones that survived too, must be so traumatized :(

    Thanks! Yeah I already have a cat and really don't have room for another one, if I did I'd grab one for sure!

    oh jeez, thanks for posting this. I just emailed them saying I could be a foster parent, we'll see what they say. I also said I was available to volunteer with cleanup, since I have no extra cash for a donation. I'll be sure and post this on my facebook page as well. :(

    Thanks ladies. I knew PJ fans have good hearts so this was something definitely worth sharing here. I definitely want to help them with cleanup too whenever they are ready to go.
