Hello,

A few friends and I will be heading up to NYC from Philadelphia tomorrow for the MSG show (I figured we had so many NY visitors for the Spectrum shows, it would be rude of me not to return the favor :) ). Any suggestions of a place to grab some good beer and food before the show? Our hotels somewhere around 8th and 40th and I came across a few places such as Stouts, Smiths, the Blarney Stone. Just looking for somewhere to grab some bar food and good beer. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

stout is cool, before the shows in 08 they had the 03 dvd playing, was kinda crowded as showtime neared, but nice none the less. there are less crowded places as you work your way east away from the garden, choose any side street...
i will be at stout haha

Stout is my usual "pre-game" spot for any MSG event.

    skip stout
and go to rattle and hum
hit stout if you want a loud crowded spot

why not hit up the pre-party spot at irish times and hang with fellow fans?
    8th and 31st....right by MSG.

say we head over around 530 - 6. will it be tough to grab a seat to eat at Stout?

    isn't that everywhere in nyc
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight
    Sammi: Wanna just break up?

  • rattle and hum would be off your path but is a good option. stout is pretty big and if you get there before 5PM you can get a seat and get some decent food too. Also there is a place called stitch that is on 37th betwen 8th and 7th that is not too bad and more on your way.

At that point, yes, it will be difficult to get a seat to eat at Stout.

Why not walk on over to the Empire State Building. There's a decent bar that brews their own. Have a couple of fresh brews, go up to the top, burn one if you can, head back down for some munchies. Me & Mrs. mklmg did it last tour in '08, probably do it again if she gets out of Jury Duty early enough.

do you want decent bullshit bar food or do you want something a little more exotic?

you can eat an overpriced burger or wings anywhere.

thanks for all the suggestions. I guess we're looking for proximity (since we won't be rolling in until the afternoon) and a cool place to hang out, eat, and drink before hand. I think we're going to try Stout and if that's not happening we'll walk around and find somewhere else.

Nevermind, skipping the concert and spending the whole night here.
