You must not be a native...I still wear shorts in October! (lol) I would LOVE to see them for a 20th reunion @ Safeco since I was a tender age of 15 when they played the Off Ramp. Besides, with all those ppl at the Safe, we could all cuddle up together to keep warm...mmmm and serve up lots of garlic fries!

Definitely have to include all the drummers in a 20th anniversary show since each played a role in the formulation, development and success of Pearl Jam's sound. I mean, you can't have a high school reunion without inviting every student.......

Selfish me wants Newcastle, Australia for the 20th (hahahaha). Maybe Silverchair's 20th in a few years.

Key Arena! Film a DVD! Mudhoney, Alice In Chains and Soundgarden to open! Temple Of The Dog encore!

    Doooo eeeeet!

I don't think the whole rotating drummers thing would happen or even work for that matter. I say just do a concert like normal and of course make it a bit extended or perhaps what they did in Mansfield in '03.

  • Either way, If this does end up happening, I hope that they announce it sometime this summer so people can have plenty of time to plan for it. I'm sure a lot more people would be able to go if its planned months in advance. The 4 drummers idea is awesome.

We all have to be realistic. i would think PJ's 20 anniversary will only be in Seattle. where else could it really be? I love the idea of all drumers playing but thats not going to happen. Dave got fired because ed didnt like him. they havent made up since then. plus if 4 drummers played the show will last forever. Imagine having to set up 4 different kits!! that would take ages. People in Seattle are in for a real treat in october. there is no limit what this band can do. Lucky bastards. The only problem i see is how the fook will Tenclub distribute tickets for the show. fans all over the world will want to go to this show. could be a nitemare

i wish i wish i wish i wish, i guess it never stops

I completely agree! My heart is racing just thinking about this! Of course, knowing my luck, there's no way I'd ever be able to actually get a ticket to such a fantasy concert. :?

Knowing PJ, if they do a big 20th show it will be a surprise. Take us back to the 90s and announce it on the radio, "Hey everybody, Pearl Jam is doing a show at XYZ location TODAY, show up at 2pm, be there, or don't be there!" and watch the traffic back up for hours on I-5, 1-90, 520 and 405, an-den Eddie can climb the scaffolding and jump off and we'll all catch him....I miss crowd surfing.....

When is the last day that the Gorge is open. Im thinking Labor Day weekend? Because, this seems to make the most sense. And honestly, NO guests for me. I want a straightforward, ass-kicking, marathon PJ show and nothing else! I thought the 05 show at the Gorge is perhaps PJ greatest show (maybe Im biased because I was there), but I would love another acoustic set followed by a 32 song electric show!

Looks like October 6th, Jack Johnson is playing.....so a concert at the Gorge would be possible, Eastern WA stays pretty warm late into the year. Dave Matthews is playing for Labor Day. Brad is already playing Sasquatch this weekend...August would be possible, only one other concert is playing then. Remember though, the residents of Quincy, hate all the traffic concerts bring to the Gorge.

Sept at the Gorge would be marvelous, Aug is still freakin surface of the sun HOT some years, and Im guessing this could be one of those years. It's a big enough venue, it's close enough to Seattle, and they seem to love playing there. Shit, its so nice, why not play two!

Two words...Mist. Tent. (but only if it's in the beer garden *wink*wink*)
    LOL!
So, I'll be practicing for an August show...heading over to Entiat this weekend. I think any band loves playing there! Saw Soundgarden at Lolla there a long ago, and they played Black Hole Sun as the sun was setting...AWESOME! If they played 2 shows, I'd take the RV and camp....concerts at the Gorge...mmmmmm concerts at the Gorge....ok, ok, back to real life.

The Gorge has been done. It needs to be a Seattle show. I vote for Safeco.

I know the drummer thing is a fanboi's wet dream but it's one I can't totally abandon. It just think it would be so awesome! And I would hope after 16 years that whatever differences people had with Dave A, the hatchet could be buried for one night. All the drummers made lasting contributions and each are a part of the 20 year history of this band. I know it'll probably never happen but I still contend it's a cool idea.

I would love to see a week of shows at The Paramount. 2 shows, day off, 2 more shows, day off the 2 more shows. Fan club only (seating capacity 2500). All the people who travel to the show would have an off day in Seattle to hang out with friends and enjoy the city.

    speaking as a drummer:

having up to 5 drummers perform thru out would take weeks of rehearsel..not to mention when a drummer changes, they are going to have to stop and bring in the next drummers kit, mic it up, tune etc. of course all of that could be done in advance but i think it would seriously hinder the flow of a show.

matt is the longest tenured drummer. i have no problem seeing him perform a whole show as a member of PJ for their 20th anniversary.

I was thinking they could do a five-night stand in Seattle, playing every song from the 9 studio albums plus all the B-sides that have been played before. In 4 shows in Philly, they did "every song they know" but that left out 27 songs or so that they actually know ("Release," "Oceans," etc.) That's why I think they could accomplish this in five nights.
I gather speed from you fucking with me.

As long as I’m brainstorming aloud, I’ll take it even further – way further… One time, one time only (“OTOTO” as Ed would say) give us fans our dream line up and have Soundgarden as openers! Even at that, I realize it would still be asking too much for Matt to pull double duty all night so I got an idea for that… (Prepare to have your head explode!) Matt would play a typical opener set with Soundgarden. After a breather between sets, Pearl Jam would take the stage with Matt behind the kit to start the show. Partway through the set, Dave Krusen would show up in relief and bash out some songs off of Ten. After a while, Dave Abbruzzese takes over for a few Vs and Vitalogy era songs. Predictably, Jack Irons would get a turn and rock the hell out of some songs off of No Code and Yield. (And maybe even let Matt Chamberlain sit in for a song or two if he’s up for it.) Then bring Matt back out for the final encore.
