Pearl Jam and Red Rocks

Why hasnt Pearl Jam played Red Rocks? They played there in 95 but havent returned. Everyone hypes up the Gorge, MSG, Boston, CHI, LA, and all the other venues but everyone neglects Red Rocks and its potential. It seems like they would be able to top all those shows but they never play there. Maybe there should be a push for it. So we could see what happens.

Funny that I should find this thread. I have never been to RR or even heard of it, until earlier. However, I was just researching the venue this morning for the TOOL shows that are coming this summer. The venue looks sweet. Can't wait. Looks like a great place to see ED or the entire band.

These were my first 2 shows. 9th row Mikes side night one. 2nd row center for night two. Not the debut for Long Road, 6/16/95 - Casper. But it was the first time they played the new Jeremy. We got there very early both days and I remember them sound checking Jeremy a bunch of times the first night. My friend and I were confused since that's a song they play so often. But it all made sense the next night when they played the new version.
BTW.. U2 put this venue on my radar screen with their famous "Under a Blood Red sky" concert film of their 6/5/83 concert in the puring rain...
Dave Matthews Band has two official live boots from their shows in 1995, and the entire "weekend on the rocks" shows in 2005.
whew!
I'm done now..

The seating arrangmement for RR varies from band to band and show to show...most shows are a combo of reserved up front with general admission in the back.
Since my sister is in the area, I'd fly out for that one.

Great thread to see this morning. Just last night I told someone I was hoping for a two night run at Red Rocks after the Europe leg, assuming they come out west. There are bigger venues (RR Is 8,000 I think, due to narrow footprint) but only one one Red Rocks. It is Mecca for hard core fans of any performer that plays there. I saw the Who at The Gorge in 2002 and the Gorge not in the same league.
It was my first PJ show in '95. Three typical seating arrangements: 1) All GA (Jam bands, and breaking bands such as My Morning Jacket); 2) All Reserved (Neil Young, more established bands with high ticket prices up front of course) 3) Mixture for about half the shows: Rows 1-24 GA, Rows 25- 60's Reserved, higher than 60's GA.
I've seen REM twice use the 3rd mixture version, but rope off the first 4 rows for Fan Club members. I would hope for a similar model for Pearl Jam, with more fan club rows, unless they went the full reserved route.
In addition to U2 and DMB previously noted, there are official Red Rocks releases for Neil Young and Stevie Nicks. Pearl Jam would be crazy not to film there.
