Kind of disappointed

So first of all, I would like to say I was so grateful to be able to go to two shows (Hartford and Boston). I know some people couldn't get tix, and some people don't have jobs right now and can't afford tickets, so yeah, I was glad to go. Plus, I LOVE the fact that I feel like I always get my moneys worth with any PJ show. They always give 110% and sound great.

I had floor tickets and I am 5"2. I literally did not SEE any of the Boston show. Nada. Yup, I could hear it and that's grand, but it would have loved to have seen just a little of it. I was section G row 1 and on top of not being able to see due to my stature (thanks Mom and Dad for the crap genes) but I had this douchey security guard pacing in from on me. I was so annoyed.

Anyway, anybody else have this problem? Any suggested solutions?

Towards the end of the show as I was thinking how disappointed I was, they broke into Crown of Thorns, and that turned it all around for me, but still...just releasing....

Yep, I have one. Don't buy 10 Club seats. My wife is also 5'2" and we sat about 10 rows behind you. She understood that you have to take the good seats (Hartford & Philly) with the not so good for her (Boston). Go fight with Ticketmaster and pay $30 in fees.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me.

How about avoiding the 10c process and buy them on your own in the stands, that way you can choose what you want. Easy for me to say, I'm sure Boston was a hard ticket to get outside 10c but that's what I would try in the future.

I'm short too. My 10C seats almost always put me in the first or second section to the right of the stage, about 5 or 10 rows back. I had floor seats in Hartford (lottery), but I was able to see. I've always figured if I end up on the floor and unable to see I'll be able to find someone in the sections where I usually sit to trade with me. Tall guys, hopefully!

Offer to trade with someone off of the floor when you get to the show. We've taken this trade before. Alot of people still want to be on the floor no matter how far. As long as you dont mind being a little further back...

I am 5'5" and I have the same problem.

    Outdoor shows are elevated.

Indoor shows you just have to hope for the lottery or wings.

For me I have been so very fortunate. Only got stuck on Philly I last year.

I do seem to enjoy the outdoor shows more....Plus they often will have the big screens up, so you can watch them there too...

I have Pearl Jam shoes that are platform about 4 inches. You could resort to that, it brings you to at least a fighting chance stance ;)
This happens to so many, I've talked with many women and yes it can be very disappointing. The crowd shifted for me and parted so I could see Eddie thru half of KC. but not the other guys. I've found now that I have to take the whole experience, the travel, the exploring of a city, the memory making with Hubby, the meeting of fans making new friends and put it all together with the show to help with disappointment. Not hearing any of my wishlist songs was tough, cause even if you can't see them you just close your eyes and you hear them. I remain hopeful for my songs next time. And you shall remain hopeful, you will see them next time.

I definitely sympathize. I'm 5'7", have a high (430s) 10C number, and was in the very last row on the floor at Boston. I'm not complaining as I had just won 1st row in lottery at Hartford the night before. It did seem odd to me though that my wife with a higher number than me had nice seats on the side. I assume they were filling the floor then going to the sides working front to back at the arena.

I was only able to see because my seats were on the aisle and I was able to move into the aisle just enough to see just fine (when the security guys would leave me alone).

I do wish 10C would give seats on the side more than the floor when you get to the back of the floor, but as others have said if you go with 10C seats you have to be willing to take what they give you. Overall, I have been quite happy with how I have done and am always happy to just be present at these incredible concerts.

    My number is 175XXX
and I was 21st row center for both Hartford and Newark.

I am 6'1" and still had trouble seeing. But I guess thats the price I have to pay for being in the back of that first group of 10c members seated in the front of the floor. I suppose one or two more tours and I will be close enough so that I am the guy blocking everyone's view. ;)

Folks with higher numbers were assigned to the wings, then even higher numbers were assigned to the middle floor sections.

The one good thing about being farther back on the floor is that its the best spot for the sound.

Keep gettin 10c tix and swap the tix with a lower #'d member for those shows with a crappy view.

Sorry I didn't make that clear. We have been attending with my 13 and 15 year old sons, so I was on the floor with the 15 year old (who is taller than I am) and my wife was on the side with my younger son.

maybe try emailing 10C prior to the show... just ask for a wing somewhere... im sure most folks usually like the floor, so it wouldnt be too much to ask for something equally far from the stage but on the side

but yah... the TM idea sounds like less of a hassel for you and them

why are most of you guys so damn tall????????
and it really doesn't help when you keep those arms up over your head...holding license plates & poster tubes !!!

    there once was a note...LISTEN !

Try being in a wheelchair and seeing asses and elbows all night.
Good thing Bristow staff had the sense to move me to behind the sound booth. The big screens really helped too.

In 2003, San Diego, I was in your situation. When I made a post like yours, half the people told me to shut up and be happy I was in the room. I thought those were bogus responses. I too feel a minimum requirement at a concert is being able to see. I hardly saw anything in San Diego and had that same feeling as you. I had a better experience listening to the bootleg. At least with the bootleg, I know it is sound only and I'm not sitting there with the disappointment of not being able to see, and the hope that maybe something positive will happen, and then the downer of it never happening. Followed by fighting to get out of the parking lot. I wish that after maybe 20 rows on the floor, 10c took the sides for everything else. That is just a wish because I think many things are out of their control, there are many variables, and it probably changes venue by venue. One thing, if you have the money, is to buy both 10c and TM seats, and then go outside and sell the lesser quality seats. 10c at face of course.

    It is.
But maybe I just feel like that because I’m in a permanent seated position.

There was an idea going around here once. It was a joke I think but it made perfect sense to me.
Dole Ten Club seats out according to height.

Good idea...will keep that in mind. My shortness had floor seats way back at the Seattle and San Diego '09 shows. LUCKILY though, they were aisle seats both times (in the center) so i could see most but damn my neck hurt the next day~

I don't even take my gf anymore if we're on the floor.
At V-fest in Calgary, we started the show about 20 feet from the stage.
    Between douche-bag crowd-surfers + gigantic fans,
we eventually retreated to about 80 feet away.
+ even THEN we still had to deal with gigantic people!
+ that is why we're NOT going to see the New Pornographers next month...
    ... Dammit.
    Cheers.
