Captain Kirk set to retire

Sydney Swans veteran Brett Kirk is set to announce that he will retire from AFL at the end of the 2010 season.

Kirk's leadership will be sorely missed, as will his experience with the co-captain helping lead Sydney to a drought-breaking AFL premiership in 2005.

He was picked up in 1998 via the rookie draft and has represented the Swans on 225 occasions.

It is believed he will announce his retirement at a press conference in Sydney scheduled for early this afternoon.

Oh man, what a legend. One of my all time favourite players. I am feeling so sad right now.

I am a swans fan, but everyone in the AFL agrees he is the best captain.

    He looks like the singer from the band Jet.
    My sis and her husband met him on a ferry during their Euro holiday about 4 yrs ago.

    That was then, nowadays they wear black trousers and a fluro t-shirt in any colour that doesn't clash with the teams playing.

    And yes they watch it, a fantastic game.
