Bonnaroo Advice

I don't know how many people are going to Bonnaroo that haven't been before but I felt the need to give some advice. Some simple things to keep in mind that I think are important to have a good time.

1) PACE YOURSELF! It's a long weekend and it ends up feeling like you have been there for a month. There is a hot Tennessee sun beating down on your and not enough shade to go around, so even just standing there, you get pretty beat up. Don't blow all your energy on Thursday!

2) Explore. In addition to all the stages, there is a batting cage, a beer tent, a giant fountain, art galleries, the ferris wheel, etc etc etc etc. Go see what makes Bonnaroo so special.

3) Go back to your tent now and then....if you have a good spot. If you have a good spot, you can go back to your tent and have meals and beers there between sets for a relaxing recharge. Don't forget to bring beers in cans (bottles not allowed) and a CHAIR!!! If you are parked far away, it might be tough to convince yourself to make the mile or so walk from the main stage.

4) Earplugs. Bonnaroo doesn't really ever end and some bands play until the sun comes up!!! You will need the shut eye, especially when you wake up at 7AM because your tent has turned into an oven and you are slowly roasting alive. Some of my lucky friends were able to sleep through it. Most of us were up from the heat. Every Z is precious in these kind fo sleepign conditions.

Anythign else come to mind from people that have been?

All great advice, also just be careful while partying late night, its easy to get out of hand and you will see lots of irresponsible kids not knowing their limits, funny but also scary sometimes.

And Im going in an RV so that solves the sleeping in the heat problem.

Also be prepared in case it rains.

A shade tent is key to being able to chill at your camp comfortably.

Read the Bonnaroo website for tips on what to bring and what not to bring.

Get a good spot so you can see PEARL JAM TEAR IT UP AT THE ROO!!!! 8 MORE DAYS BABY!!!!

A roll of toilet paper and a small flashlite are essentials.

For bathing, we used baby wipes as refreshers which were awesome. Don't underestimate the power of a baby wipe! We also had one of those coleman showers, which are basically just big bags that you fill with water and hold over your head. It was pretty cheap and def worth it, especially after sleeping and getting ready to start a day.

Also, don't forget you are allowed to bring your own food, beer, and grill (not gas) to the campsite.

FILL UP THE GAS TANK IN YOUR CAR AS MUCH AS YOU CAN BEFORE YOU GET THERE!!! Long lines in and out of the festival may lead to running out of gas by the end of the weekend.

I used the showers provided (for $7) the past two years. Best to get there when they open up.

There is a real human being there to accept your money and you get free shampoo, but bring soap and a towel.

It may be worth catching the showing of Body of War in the Cinema tent on Friday June 13 at 4:15pm. Not only because it is a moving film, but also because they have allowed for 2 hours and 15 minutes and the movie is only 87 minutes long, so there is an extra 45 minutes in there for something or someone.

As much as I have a strong feeling that Ed will show up at Body of War I won't be there.

These 2 things are essential - Water and Shade. Bring lots and lots of water and bring a shade tent if you can. Sure shade tents are expensive, but when you're that TN heat you'll probably wish you spent some $ on one.

During the day drink at least 1 bottle of water per beer. If you drink too much during the day you're gonna be in rough shape by the end of the day and miss the best part of Roo - which is the late night!
