Dearest Pearl Jam
I never thought I would sit here in front of my computer and write you an open letter.
I have caught the rumor that some or at least one band member reads this message board.
My username is CantKeepMeHere my name is Jason and the song Can't Keep is how I try to live my life each day.
So much of the many messages that you guys put out there with your music says to love the ones you have to love while they are here because anyone can be gone from this planet at anytime with little or no notice.
We have all felt that deep and terrible loss.
My wife and I will be at both MSG shows traveling from Vermont and I would humbly request for you to play Can't Keep - yes for me, but more for my wife Marlie. Her son turns 18 in a few weeks and will be graduating high school a few days after that and then immediately will be leaving for the Army. He has plans to become a master electrician and build his own company and after weighing all of his options it is the best move for him to achieve that glorious goal.
Ryan has been in my life since he was about 6 years old (we married when he was 16) and he means the absolute world to me - and I know that he will certainly become someone in this world, they type of somebody we should all try to aspire to become.
He has been working steady since he was 13 and has even had his own lawncare/small construction business for about 2 years now. (And yes he always gives the little old lady discount.)
Like all good parents I have poured my heart and soul into raising him to be a far better person than I have the strength to be and in just a few short weeks he will be out of my hands and starting the life that he alone will forge.
Please, please play Can't Keep for Jason and Marlie at one of the MSG shows.
Ryan was going to come to the first show with me and Marlie too the second but he has a floor to tile over the weekend and school to finish up this week so he choose the "right thing to do for him right now." - He oozes character and integrity. We are so very proud of him.
He digs Pearl Jam especially the bootlegs while he is off-roading with friends all through Vermont.
Thanks for taking the time too read my request even though I feel a little lame putting such a lofty request out there.
With all honesty we believe you guys are the greatest band in the world and are a huge part of the soundtrack that is my family's life and the idea of Ryan being where ever he will be in a few months listening to a 2010MSG bootleg and hearing Cant' Keep brings an immense smile to all of us.
Thank you again for all you do for us each day with out even knowing you are doing it!!!

I have to add that one of my fondest memory of Ryan was when he was 15 and he had his first serious girlfriend and the time came when he wanted to break up with her - nothing had happened he was just 15 and well he asked me which was better text or phone call dumping-
I told him neither, I would drive him over there and he would do it in person - he asked why and hemmed and hawed - but I explained it to him like this -
It is not for your benefit it is for hers, and that someday she was gonna meet a great guys settle down and have children - is she going to raise her son to break up with girls over text or phone calls or is she going to remember how even though it hurt and sucked really bad that you came to her and did it for in person? -
he said it doesn't matter to him because he is breaking up with her and they therefore aren't going to get married - but I said to him, what if her son is dating your daughter? - I visibly saw the light bulb go off over his head-
He bought each of us a Mountain Dew and I watched through the passenger window on that rainy sunday as he stood there like a man and gently broke a heart on her front door steps. They are still friends and I have heard her say that a few days later she really came to respect him for doing it in person --- aaahhhh memories

Yes Ryan is my step son
My wife was pregnant at 21 and 3 months into it the guy left never to be heard from again - she raised him on her own until she was around 25 then met someone and they got married and had 1 child, a girl Kathleen (he first show was Pearl Jam Philly night 2 w/ me) and just "naturally" (i use that word but should choose something like dramaless) they divorced after 2 years - I have know the kids since they were 6 and 2 - Kathleens dads is just dead beat loser and they have been mine sinse 2001 - having no children of my own I have raised them as if they were and the 4 of us are best when the 4 of us are all working towards each other try and just be better people and all the rest just comes along with it
