bchagnon wrote:There are no words to describe this show. Possibly "Epic"... but I'm not sure even that captures what happened that night. To start, I picked up my tickets only to find out we had won the 10C lottery, ended up with 10th row, center stage. If that wasn't a great sign of what was to come, then I don't know what is. They played some great songs, and threw in more than a few rarities (C'Mon, was I the only one that thought 'Push Me, Pull Me' was awesome?) Being my 23rd show, I have a lot of experiences to live up to. I was at all 3 Mansfield shows in 2003, the last containing a 12 song acoustic set prior to the opening band. I felt that was epic at the time, and this show blew that outta the water.
And this was a very personal show for me too. My wife Katherine passed away in 2007, at the young age of 25, leaving me with our 7 month old daughter. Katherine's favorite song has always been 'Given To Fly'. To hear that song, followed immediately by 'Sad' sent chills down my spine. I felt like Katherine was there at the show with me. I felt like she was the reason I had the tickets that I had. It was a moment I have not had in a long time, one of feeling like there are still good things that can happen. I know this was only a concert, but for me it felt like so much more.
Pearl Jam has been helping me through a lot in the last 3 years, and this tops the list. Thanks Mike, Stone, Ed, Jeff, Matt, and of course Boom. I don't think I would be here right now if weren't for you guys. Love ya!
Peace!

Great post. Nothing can replace the loss of a loved one, but at least for a couple of hours it's amazing how this band can make everything seem like things are ok. I was in a car accident a couple of weeks before this show and it really gets you thinking. But then when you get to experience this band in person, there is no real way to describe it... it's awesome. This was my 13th PJ show and to finally hear them play Crown of Thorns and Push Me, Pull Me was something special.

And how about the roaring crowd singing "WHERE IT TAKES ME." Gives me chills every time I hear it, it's like I'm back there in Section J, Row 44.15 years of sharks 06/30/08 (MA), 05/17/10 (Boston), 09/03/11 (Alpine Valley), 09/04/11 (Alpine Valley), 09/30/12 (Missoula), 07/19/13 (Wrigley), 10/15/13 (Worcester), 10/16/13 (Worcester), 10/25/13 (Hartford), 12/4/13 (Vancouver), 12/6/13 (Seattle), 6/26/14 (Berlin), 6/28/14 (Stockholm), 10/16/14 (Detroit)0 -

Definitely looks like the best setlist of the tour so far.....You are really lucky in Boston !!0

It was an amazing night... you should seriously consider the boot. I think the versions of "Release" and "Unthought Known" are real standouts.15 years of sharks 06/30/08 (MA), 05/17/10 (Boston), 09/03/11 (Alpine Valley), 09/04/11 (Alpine Valley), 09/30/12 (Missoula), 07/19/13 (Wrigley), 10/15/13 (Worcester), 10/16/13 (Worcester), 10/25/13 (Hartford), 12/4/13 (Vancouver), 12/6/13 (Seattle), 6/26/14 (Berlin), 6/28/14 (Stockholm), 10/16/14 (Detroit)0

Been listening to this show over and over for the last couple of days ... still in awe of the experience from that night ... and the boot is just great!!
Thanks again PJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
I can't stop listening to Release from this show. There is something different about this version from others. It is magical. Does Matty C. play the drums differently on this version?? Well...whatever is going on, it kicks ass...gives me goosebumps.0

Just got back from vacation to a waiting Boston bootleg and listening to the amazing show i was at over again was the first thing i did. I remember the show vividly but this bootleg is going to bring back great memories over and over again. Especially RVM!!!! I remeber that night i thought it was a great version, but listening to it again it was actually an AMAZING version, one of the best RVM i have heard.0

I just finally figured out how to insert pictures, so I thought I'd share a few of mine from that awesome amazing night
Ed
Stone
The Master
Jeff and Ed right before Bee Girl
Matt playing to the behind the stage seats
This was the best I could get of Boom, but I think the lighting is cool at least
Ed swinging that mic stand..I was in the front row ( ) so I'm just glad he seemed to only be drinking gatorade out of that wine bottle that night.0 -
