Just because Boston got an amazing set doesn't mean they will be off their game in Newark.
People have been so quick to bash Newark (it will be 1/2 full, it will be a greatest hits show (is that really so bad?), they saved everything for Boston, Newark is a dangerous city, etc). Im sure PJ is capable of putting on two great performances in a row. And they didnt run out of songs in Boston -- there will be plenty left for Newark and MSG! There is no such thing as a bad PJ show. Im looking forward to it!

I remember that. They also bashed the Beacon show, which also followed a great Boston show in '08. And we got Undone, Masters of War, Harvest Moon, Low Light, Army Reserve & Light Years at the Beacon!

In a way, I guess I'm almost fortunate that I've only been to two PJ shows before, because I don't care what they play - any setlist will seem epic to me. I do understand where people are coming from, though, as I've seen Springsteen 27 times and I do get bored of a lot of regular songs.

Newark will have a hit laden show, no doubt. Betterman, daughter, black, corduroy, etc.

i am not, nor have i ever been...worried or tense over a pearl jam show. it WILL be spectacular. a NJ show is the same crowd, or close to it, as a NYC show. tri-staters represent! we will be out in force, and we will be loud.....and we will be lovin' every minute of it, and so will the band as we all know how they feed off our energy! you want epic? this week is EPIC. i haven't even been to 1 show in 2010, and yet, i have no doubts in my mind.

    bring it!

I think we are all gonna be surprised tonite... they added this show in lieu of the msg shows selling out fast. Though it does not look like a sell out tonite. There will be die hards there. Regardless of the "greatest hits" they may play, regardless that newark seems to be getting bashed and everyone seems a little weery. I know it will be a good nite. See you all there. Leaving in a few hours. As usual i Cant wait... oh and from a devils fan, for those who never went to the Prudential center, it will be one of the best venues you have been to. Mark my words. Enuff is enuff.. get up for tonite and rock your asses off!

The Prudential Center is one of the nicest arenas around. As for people who are afraid or leery about Newark being a dangerous city...I take it you've never been to a Camden show?? I went to a show there last year and walked the 2 blocks from the Newark train station...no issues at all...looking forward to doing it again tonight.

every pearl jam show is great. some are greater than others.

after last night i have to come in with zero expectations. you can't walk into every show expecting what happened last night. i'm sure i'll have a blast. i'm sure everyone going will have a blast.

we got 3 more to go and then who knows when they'll be back around these parts. let's enjoy ourselves!

Why do people have such a problem with a greatest hits shows? its not like they do them all the time and when they pull them it results in the whole crowd being great as opposed to some people knowing a song. Like i would love to get anything off of lost dogs but sometimes a band playing an rarity song that you love doesnt translate it into a great experience.

This show has the potential to not only be epic, but to blow Boston away.

Keep in mind, Bruce Springsteen lives 1/2 an hour from Newark, and has never showed up at a Pearl Jam show.

Don't bank on it, Bruce is never a guarantee, but this could be the night...
  • Why is anyone worried about newark?? The guys are over at the Soho grand having a good time I am sure. They are in the same place for a few days with a break coming up after Friday. I suspect they will be in great spirits. Have a few drinks everyone and enjoy!

  • Because its not completely sold out will probably mean that we'll get something special tonight. The boys are on a roll, and because most of you are predicting a greatest hits set, will most likely return in favor a non- greatest hits- but full on mix! if we are lucky no repeats....I really wanna hear Whipping, Strangest Tribe, Get Right, Hitchhiker, Last Exit!!!

Wow - semantics. Now we are breaking down shows between "great' and "very good"?! i had just got a handle on the "epic" classification! Ill just say i enjoyed the show very much and was very pleased with the set list. Immortality, Alone, Brother, Of the Girl, You Are, Glorified G, Brain of J were all songs I had been dying to see.
Yesterday, there were a lot of people predicting a bad show or a greatest hits show and it certainly wasnt in that category.

In any event, i hope you enjoyed the show!

Egh...It was a good show. I was happy to be there. My seat was amazing! Had a super nice time @ the fundraiser. Excellent job Laura. But I must say, Pearl Jam shows don't quite have the same 'energy' like they do in Philadelphia. ;) Maybe we'll have a show or 2 here in the fall? 8-)Thanks PJ for a great evening, rock that shit out @ MSG...

  • I loved this show. VIP parking was great. Direct access into the venue. It brought us in right at a merchandise table. Scooped up a poster. Love that poster. Happy that Ames Bros. did this one! It liked the venue too. This show blew me away. Danced, sang (every song) cried (Footsteps). Awesome mix of songs. Really solid Setlist. We had good seats section 18 row 10. Great view of the Band. Sound was great! Absolutely no complaints. Thanks to Pearl Jam for coming to Jersey! Very happy to have been part of it.

I never use the word epic. Ever.

And I'm not trying to put a damper on the show. But in my opinion I would say very good, but not great. I don't know how other people think of shows, but to me it is easy to tell between very good and great.
