I won't be at any shows -- but I think it would be one class act move to improv some 'Holy Diver' into one of the songs at one of the upcoming shows.

RIP Dio...

PS. I got this idea from a poster in the "Ronnie James Dio has died" thread...

Would be cool if they did some "man on a silver mountain" as a Daughter tag
Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river

Love that song-- saw Rainbow in '79 (last tour with Dio) and it was a highlight. Also saw him with Sabbath in '80. I was thinking Mike might get into some heaven and hell during Yellow Ledbetter

Dio was born in Portsmouth, NH which is really close to Boston. Would be great to see a tribute to him in his back yard.

If they played a little Van Halen, I can see them covering Dio.

If not a cover or a tag ... at the very least, a tip o' the cap and a song dedication.

I've been to so many Boston shows ... a part of me wishes I was there so badly for this .. part of me is glad I'm not.

    RIP, RJD.

Instead of raising your arms during the hallelujah portion of DTE, the crowd should throw up the horns in honor of Dio!!!

I'm not the ultimate authority on forum classification but I would say this thread is a request for Pearl Jam to play some song or to do something to recognise Dio. The way I see it, if this were a river and Pearl Jam is standing on a stone in the middle of the river, they had to step on several stones to get onto the one they're on. And Dio laid one of those stones which made it so that Pearl Jam could make it to the place they are without tearing something. A lot of people, including Mike, I think, have directly or indirectly taken the fruit from a genre that Dio had a huge influence in. Pearl Jam has their own huge influence. It's like generations. Hopefully the ones stepping from Pearl Jam's stone don't lay a large dirt clod that just breaks up and washes down the river. I think this is the right forum.

As said before, if anyone in the band has a soft spot for Dio, my guess would be Mr. McCready.

And yeah...so it may be in the wrong section of the board, but really...it's one thread that was created for a godo purpose. I'll take any backlash proudly. Anything for Dio.

That man is one of very, very, very few musicians who i see as a God. With pipes like he had...how could you not worship that dude?

Okay, okay...Zeppelin and Sabbath may have helped "create" metal...but there is no question Ronnie James Dio understood metal. He embodied it. He is, was, and forever will be metal.

I mean...he (along with Vinny) brought Sabbath, who were literally crumbling from within, back from the ashes to create what was arguably their most successful album since Paranoid.

    Fuckin' represent.

If you are talking about the Heaven and Hell album, Bill Ward played drums on that album not Vinny Appice, although he did play on Mob Rules and that is also a good album. I would say the best Black Sabbath albums are Black Sabbath, Paranoid and Heaven and Hell.

I can listen to Heaven and Hell every day and never skip a track, 1980 was a GREAT year for metal!
