i'm driving from south shore of LI
Theres ample parking nearby, but expect congestion during the event .

im not suyre on the tailgating.
Its not like Giants Stadium of old,
or even Shea Stadium , ...
    thats for sure .
They use ( multi level ) decked parking garages - so im guessing no on the tailgating-
but perhaps someone who knows either way can better answer that .

    Enjoy the show .

Not all the parking is in garages - some are just plain old lots. Either way, I am pretty sure drinking is a no-no outside, especially with the Newark police cracking down on almost everything (which is actually a good thing for the city haha).

Depending on what time your last train back to your location in LI is, rail could also be a viable option for you. You can take NJTransit from Penn Station New York directly into Penn Station Newark, which is about a 5-minute walk from the venue. Assuming PJ is done between 11 and 11:30, you would make it back to New York Penn between 12 and 12:30, and would just have to go across the station back to the LIRR platforms.
