What are your thoughts on the Gibson ES 335? I've read that these are pretty versatile guitars that can play anything from rock to blues to jazz. There's one at Sweetwater with Burstbuckers instead of 57's. Anyway, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

They are great guitars. If i could afford one right now I would one. Have you ever played a hollow or semi hollowed body before? They definitely have a distinct tone.. I love them for clean to slightly driven tones.. To much distortion and they tend to get away from ya a bit. My '01 Les Paul standard has burstbuckers in it and I absolutely love those pick-ups. I wonder how they would sound in a 335.. they are kind of hot..

  • Yeah, I have Burstbucker's in my Epi LP Custom and love them. I'm planning on rewarding myself with a new guitar after I finish my graduate degree in December. So, I've been starting to shop around and think about it a bit more. I just fell in love with the look of this ES 335 block inlay at Sweetwater, but I don't know if I want to get a new electric or acoustic.

If money were no object right now, the electric guitar I would buy is a Gibson ES-339, which is a semi-hollow body modeled on the 335, but smaller body size overall. Really awesome guitars, I just wish I could afford one!

I have a modded Epi Sheraton.. My number 1 guitar right now (ahead of the American Strat and Gibson Les Paul Standard in the house)...
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V

Great suggestion! I am going to add the 339 to the list of guitars I want to check out...and start saving! :-)
