Your Pearl Jam Story...

I'd known about Pearl Jam for a while but I'd never listened to their music. My Dad had Yield, Rearviewmirror and the I Am Mine single. I tried to listen to some of the songs on Rearviewmirror a few times but it just flew over my head. Then I stumbled across Even Flow on Youtube and I really liked it. I tried listening to a few of Pearl Jam's songs but I'd only get 5 seconds into them when I decided I didn't like them.

Then Dad brought home the remastered edition of Ten and he put on the Mtv Unplugged DVD and I watched it with him. I loved it and I realized that I had heard Alive before. I put Ten in the car and I listened to it over and over. I loved every song on it and that's really something because I'm very picky.

So I listened to every one of their songs and (although I didn't like them all at first) I was hooked. I digged Vs a lot so I bought that next. Next I bought their self-titled album and later I started to download their songs. I put Rearviewmirror back in the car and I absolutely hammered it. I love it.

Then Backspacer came out. I bought that and I loved it. The same year I went and saw them live. And what a show it was! I've seen U2 and Kiss but Pearl Jam blew them away.

And my relationship with Pearl Jam has continued. I listened to all of their songs again and now I like all of them. Dad bought Riot Act, Live at the Garden, Immagine in Cornice, Touring Band 2000 and Single Video Theory and I watch all of them frequently.

I'm proud to say that Pearl Jam are my favourite band. I can't wait to see what comes next and I would definitely see them live again.

I always think that people who don't love Pearl Jam just haven't really heard them yet - :)

    I love your story!

I heard my first Pearl Jam song in 2006, I was 19. Alive came on the radio when I was at work, one of my colleauges exclaimed "Ah love a bit of Pearl Jam in the afternoon". Pearl Jam? Who the hell are Pearl Jam? .but I liked the song so I asked this guy the name of the song and he said Alive so I downloaded it and really liked it.

I saw Rearviewmirror in a store so picked it up. I quite liked it but tbh I wasn't in love with it. I liked it enough to see the band at Wembley in 2007. This will always remain one of the worst but one of the most important gig of my life. It wasn't bad cos the band were having a bad night it was the sound. Literally the worst of any show I've ever been to. Also the guys played a few less played songs but all I knew were the Alives, Even flows (not played that night funnily enough) and Jeremys.

The poor sound meant I couldn't enjoy the songs I was unfamiliar with however I thought they sounded pretty decent, so I thought I'd try the studio albums. So I got Ten. TOTALLY BLEW ME AWAY. I remember listening to Garden for the first time, I couldn't move onto the next track for over a day. Then I just followed the albums in chronological order. Till now where I am a fully fledged Pearl Jam fanatic with vinyl, a whole load of friends who are pretty sick of me talking about Pearl Jam all the time and a lot less many then perhaps I should because I've travelled to see the greatest band in the world.

I listened to PJ back in the Ten & Vitalogy days then got into other stuff & didn't listen to them at all until I heard Ed's Into the Wild last year, I loved it, bought Backspacer & loved that too. I went to their concert here in November last year & it blew me away!!!!!!!!! I bought all the other albums that weekend, joined the Jamily loaded the albums on my ipod & put it on PJ only shuffle for about the next 3 months! :D I've been forcing myself to have my ipod on general, everything shuffle recently but love it when a PJ song comes on. That's my PJ story.
