Having just listened to the 30 second clips of the new STP record, I think that could well be it. First Kiss On Mars sounds awesome, absolute classic melody. I don't know why I'm so surprised, it's not like they haven't written countless awesome songs in the past.

Sadly, this is the best album I've heard from this year. It's ok, but it's just not in the same league as Fate, a legendary album, in my eyes.

"Odd Blood" by Yeasayer is easily my top pick so far.

Vampire Weekend, Spoon, and Broken Bells were decent, but I keep coming back to Yeasayer. That one just doesn't get old.

    The National: High Violet
    The Morning Benders: Big Echo
    Beach House: Teen Dream
    Yeasayer: Odd Blood
    Spoon: Transference
    LCD Soundsystem: This is Happening
Joanna Newsom: Have One on Me
    Local Natives: Gorilla Manor
    Vampire Weekend: Contra

    *Wolf Parade: Expo '86

2010 has been a real horse race...

Beach House was really strong out of the gate, then Yeasayer took the lead, then Contra, and during a weekend trip to see Vampire Weekend, Morning Benders were on heavy rotation. Don't think I've seen them mentioned on here yet, but a really good album. High Violet is in the lead now, but might be neck and neck once Wolf Parade comes out - though I've heard it - and just need more listens.

I've heard good things about the new Black Keys album, so I'll most likely pick that up along with Band of Horses latest too.

I see what your saying...But I knew going in that "FATE" would be damn near impossible to top.

Have you heard that "Shame Shame" B-Side "Oh-Man"?
Now that's a GREAT song!!!. Basically everying that missing on "Shame Shame" can be found on that tune.
I will forever wonder the logic behind leaving that one off the album...

All and All, "Shame Shame" is nowhere near my favorite Dr.Dog album...but it's certainly the best album of 2010 -so far- that and the new Black Keys album.
