Will the June tour feature new songs?

When I saw Radiohead in 2006, most of the stuff they did was songs from the eventual In Rainbows. Do you think Pearl Jam will be playing some of their upcoming songs from a new album/cd?

If so, would this make you happy, or do you prefer to listen to the album/cd before to get used to the new stuff? Personally, when I first hear a song, it's hard for me to instantly like/feel good about it. I need a bit of time for new songs to grow on me.

Opinions?

    That would be glorious!

i wouldn't be surprise to hear a handful of new tunes at all...what else would this East tour be about if they're not trying to promote something.

id rather just see very varied setlists with no new songs. just setlists with an egual amount of songs from every album.

I might expect 1 song they might not even put on the album, just like 05.
Some people have religion I have Pearl Jam.

    no more shows

  • I think I liked the lyrics of "Crapshoot" better or at least what I could make out. Comatose still rocks balls, though.

For some reason they were dead set against this in 2005. They did play Gone, but if you remember back to all of the interviews in 2005, Gone was not originally slated to be on Avocado and was added to the track list only after the band heard the song for the first time in AC in 2005.

Most, if not all of the songs that would eventually be released on Avocado were written in September 2005, but they decided not to play any of them on the Canadian/SA tours.

Because of that, I would highly doubt that they will experiment with new songs in 2008.

... But I sure hope they prove me wrong :)

Agreed....i think Gone was the exception last time around...but they didn't play any of the other new stuff. I wouldn't expect any new stuff in this tour...

It wasn't acoustic, it was Ed solo on an electric.

  • Lets hope no new songs. Heavy on even flow and alive. Sprinkle in Jeremy some nights. If any recent songs I would go with Release.

Im not aware of the band doing ANY kind of work together so cant imagine there will be new PJ songs. If Ed had a new song or two id imagine wed have heard them on his tour. Possibly you will get some solo Ed Into The Wild stuff IMHO.

I realized it later, was electric...my bad

I think there'll be one or two " experiments" like "Gone " . Ed will say something like " we'd like to try something a little different , would you be okay with that ? " or he'll tell a story of how the song came to be,as with "Gone" .

Honestly, I'd rather hear songs like Hold On that haven't been played live yet than new songs that will just go get reworked in the studio anyway.
  • I doubt they'll play any newly recorded material. It doesn't seem as if they've really had much time to record as a group.

Maybe we'll get a b-side from Avocado? It'd be new to us at least! I'm really curious to hear what Of The Earth sounds like.
