i'm not a fan of their 5-10 minute jams. i'm not paying to see them fondle their instruments for, what seems like, an eternity. if they play porch/even flow/daughter/rvm and add a 10 minute jam to it, that's about two or three extra songs they could have played instead of a drawn out instrumental break.
    in short: PLAY MORE YIELD!

I think you gotta keep in mind that the jams are designed to give Ed's voice a little rest as much as anything. Without that rest ur lookin at fewer songs or at least a dip in quality

I love the 15:17 Not For You sound check that happened back @ Miami, March 28th 1994! Would love to hear it live @ a show someday.

Does this make them a "jam" band when they do this?

i live for the extended Porches and RVMs, so we differ there.

i'd rather hear RVM than three shitty b-sides or something.

didnt they play a 13 minutes Im Open once? something like that. it sounds cool. i think it was a soundcheck.

I think they do it just because they love doing it, not for Ed.

There's a 9.5 minute version of porch from east Rutherford 06. Even Ed starts messin around on his guitar towards the end of the jam. My fav version of Porch.
