Am i the only one who HATES all the acronyms???

Now granted I know that RVM is Rearview Mirror, and that DTE is Do the Evolution, SOLAT is State of Love and Trust, and that RHCP is the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but for fucks sake, I cant keep up! Please people, go the extra mile and type out the words to help out those like me that may have no clue as to wtf (what the fuck ;) ) you're talking about. Sorry if this comes off as a rant, just frustrates me :?

    Agreed. I often find myself going to iTunes and organizing the library by name to figure out what song people are talking about... Takes me way more time than it would take to just type the damn name!! :crazy:

    There's another thread that references GSMF. It took me a full 4 minutes to figure out which song that was.

    I think some people use these acronyms to show how much of a better fan they are than you. It gives them a sense of superiority.

    That was the first time I saw the GSMF reference...like I'm automatically supposed to know that.

    Let me just run through PJ's catalog of songs in my head. I mean, come on.

    They're overused, I'd say.

    Any song with four words in the title, or a word with more than five letters, has it's own acronym? Too much!!!

    How about just include footnotes? :D

    i say songs with more than two words are acceptable for acronymity (if that's even a word)...like State of Love and Trust is SOLAT, and Gonna See My Friend as GSMF, however, if there is a better way of shortening it, then it isn't acceptable, for example Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town. either Elderly Woman or Small Town is acceptable not EWBTCIAST. and Rockin' in the Free World as just Rockin'...basically whatever the band writes on their set lists are acceptable shorthands. other than than that, write out the whole thing.

    what does the band write down for Gonna See My Friend? anyone have a set list from the passed tour and a half?

    also what's great about SOLAT for State of Love and Trust, is that the acronym in itself is a word and when i read it or say it, i pronounce it like a word So-Lat

    oh god, i remember when i first saw STBC and i was like uhhhh satan's bed... c..? it made my brain hurt :crazy: took me a good 10 minutes to figure out it was spin the black circle without looking at my song library.

    I do.. what the hell, is everyone texting these posts from a phone? How many tenths of a second does it take to type a song name.. half the time I spend more time trying to figure out which song people are talking about.
