doesnt sound good live.. GREAT tune on the album as far as I am concerned, but live, just sounds "messy"...probably why they havent played it yet this go around
well it is a messy song i thought thats how it was suppose to be they played it same way in austin it was fuckin tight
hopefully I will hear it Sat, Mon or Tue!!! On the boots just doesnt sound like a good Live PJ song..most PJ songs are better live than the album..
Listening to Pearl Jam radio it hit me how so often this really isn't the case any longer. PJ are seemingly making more songs that sound great on the album, but shit live, like GSMF and WWS... and well, most of Backspacer really. I really wonder what this change is down to.

Part of why they sound so much different (not worse, although on Force of Nature it just sounds a bit flat) is that they are tuning the guitars down a half step to make it a little easier for EVs vocals. I know that they do that with Life Wasted, Got Some, Fixer, Force of Nature... there are others I cant remember offhand.

Yep. WWS and GSMF are tuned down as well. All the songs that are hard to sing are tuned down and sound different live.

For what it's worth, while I thought Just Breathe and Unthought Known sounded lackluster in New Orleans, I thought Supersonic kicked some major ass.
And I listen for the voice inside my head... nothing. I'll do this one myself.
I have no clue about music so please excuse my ignorance, but what does it mean by tuning down the guitars for Ed's vocals? how does that help/what does that mean?

it means making the pitch of the song lower, so Ed doesn't have to strain to sing it as high as it was recorded.

It's a messy song because it's a pearl jam song. Almost every pj song has some sort of messiness to it, especially live.
What makes an incredible live rock band is messiness. Lyrical fuck ups, guitar fuck ups, a drunk but HAPPY singer, yet at the same time still being tight where theiyre not too sloppy. That's the whole reason why PJ is the greatest live band around. So for someone to say it's too messy live just confuses me.
Yeah, I know they're tuned down live, but it's not that they sound different... i love variety between studio and live performances, it's more a matter that they sound baaaaaaad. Ed's vocals in particular. I really didn't like "Got Some" until I heard the album version and it still beats the pants off every live version I've heard because Ed just cannot sing it properly.
please stop...i really do love this song...they already don't play it...you will further that and i will never hear it again...
it is a messy a song like some songs are messy but fuckin rock,,,
as I'm not a fan of uber-technical Swedish heavy metal guitar work, I prefer the sludgy shit, i.e: GRUNGE.
I don't pay good money to hear the album. I pay good money to hear the live version.
thats fuckin right i pay money to hear an see a kick ass live show,, because in the studio anything can happen an the be corrected but,,, live is where you see the ones that belong on the stage

Anyone who doesn't think Got Some kicks ass live has not heard the Salt Lake City show. Best version ever.

It was a good version considering how many songs they butchered on the Philly run.
