PJ roadtrip ideas

Okay, for my 43rd birthday, I'm going to have one of my best mid-life crisis yet. I'm going to try to hit as many of the east coast shows as I can. Two things: 1. I've got very limited funds, and 2. I have no tickets.

1. Any ideas how to legally support myself for a couple of months while on the road? I'm trying to stitch together some secret shopper gigs along the way, but the pay is super low for a visit to McD's and the likes. I build small-business websites, but don't have any current or perspective clients. Otherwise, I could take that on the road as I've done in the past.

2. I don't have any tickets for any of the shows. Any recommendations? Should I just show up early and hope that I can get an unused 10C ticket? If so, how do I go about this? I'm a 10C member, but let my membership lapse just at the wrong time.

Can any of you experienced multi-show attendees offer any advise?

Thanks!

  • Check out the pre-parties for extra 10c tix. There's always someone that doesn't have a ticket buddy.

...and just as i typed that, i almost had a heartattack. My membership expired yesterday. Dammit.

You will most likely be able to score tickets day of.

Wait early by the box office, at almost every show I've been at they have extra tickets for sale, sometimes pretty good seats. Or if you have a car you might start offering transport to the next show in exchange for someone's extra.

    Good luck on your adventure!

P.S. Just don't try selling soggy grilled cheese sandwiches in the parking lots....pleeeze!

These are good ideas. I've got tons of roadtrip experience because I'm a climber. I can sleep in the car, have a camp stove setup and all that. I guess I'm more concerned about income. But maybe it's just not possible and I'll have to suck it up and stash away what I can and have a job ready for when the tour is done.

I do have a nearly new car. If anyone needs a ride from one show to the next and has an extra ticket in exchange, please let me know! Bonus points if you're a climber and there's a break in the show dates.

How about if the grilled cheese is crisp?

I don't know about the tix, but my boys and me are driving down to D.C. and we are good at getting people shitfaced...

some of the shows are not sold out as of yet...anything south of MSG should still have tix... feeding yourself on the road isnt too bad unless you are VERY health conscious... if not, im sure you'll be fine... and when all else fails.... LIFE TAKES VISA...

    1 month lost wages- $3,000
