Will we hear Bushleaguer live again?

This is a great song, especially live, and I wonder if the band will play this song again.. When that moron of Bush will be only a sad memory, I don't think Ed will consider this song appropriate again, and we'll even miss his funny shows with the mask.. I've seen this song in Bologna in 2006, and it's been one of the highlights of the show.. So, if the band will ever read this, I suggest to not put away this song, because the music is great, maybe they can re-arrange it and make it an instrumental song (if I'm not wrong, Stone declared that the early version of this song was a bit different than the riot act version with Eddie's spoken words)..
Or maybe they can just rename it Obamaleaguer, but this title sounds not as good as Bushleaguer :)

I've seen this live twice in Prague in 2006 and Wembley last year and I hope they do it again! Was superb in Prague, again with the mask and jacket! Eddie gave the mask some wine!!

I would LOVE to see them finally ditch No More and play this instead. Whether or not you agree with the message, this is a much better song than No More will ever be...

I saw it live on Long Island and that really ruined the mood of one of the best shows I saw, I think it would be different now maybe it was wrong time and place but Mike Macreedy doesn't want to play it and not for nothing it really is not that good of a song

Exactly...I'm all for protest songs...but "Bu$hleaguer" is just not very good. At all. The riffs sound uninspired...and while I agree with Eddie's political views for the most part...some of the lyrics in the song are ridiculous.
  • god i hope not. i'm counting down the days until Bush is out of office, largely because i may never have to hear this song again once he's out. :)

    I love protests songs.

Just not shitty ones. Like basically all of Pearl Jam ones.

Same here. I like No More, but Bushleaguer is much better. The lyrics are so ridiculous. They played it night 3 of san fransisco 06, and it was a great version. Ed was totally into it compared to the cd.

The song is absolute trash; simply because it bashes someone we don't like doesn't make it a good song, easily one of the worst PJ songs in the catalogue
"Stunned by my own reflection, It's looking back, sees me too clearly and I swore I'd never go there again, Not unlike a friend that politely drags you down, down, down"

When you see me on the street, yell out "FAVO!!!"

I've been to alot of Pearl Jam shows; So fucking what.

I was really hoping they'd take it out and dust it off one last time at DC this year, but they didn't. I doubt that we will hear it again. For what it's worth, I thought it was a cool song.

I never liked Bushleaguer on CD, but it sounds so much better live. Eddie doesn't sound so depressed...more angry.

I don't particularly want to hear it, but to SEE it live is a whole other thing. Complete with jacket and mask. It's just not the same if Ed does it without, he may as well not bother.

  • Forget everything else, the great thing about Bush leaving office will be Pearl Jam hopefully retiring this terrible, terrible "song".

I never liked this song originally, thought it was weird with the talking lyrics but it grew on me :)

Like others have said you need to hear it live to appriciate it, I saw it at Wembley and it was one of the highlights, so I hope they still play it from time to time

no "maybe if" but WHEN Obama starts pulling the same shit Bush did and picks up where the Republicans left off and Ed and the boys realize they where lied to (again) then we will have an Obama song!

  • They can't change the name to ******leaguer. It's a funny coincedence that his name is a baseball reference when he is also derided for being born on third. (It's not an eddie invention )

Agreed. I feel the exact same way. It is a waste of track space on Riot Act when far better songs missed the cut. And soon it will be dated and no reason to ever play it again.
