Bristow, Va...whose coming? Tailgating???

Never been to this venue, definitely want to get in some drinks before hand. Can anyone help with tailgating info?

    Not sure about tailgating, but get there early just to get into the show.

    In '07 I arrived at 6:30pm to the parking lot line, and didn't get into the show until 10pm.

    Well, in fairness, it was raining hard that day, but still 3+ hours to enter the parking lot from the line of cars was incredible.

    When PJ played in '03, I think I recall them starting the show with quiet songs, explaining that there were a lot of people stuck in traffic... so this venue has a major traffic issue.

    I'd guess if you arrive outside the venue by 4pm, you should be safe. I think it's not going to be as bad as what I experienced in '07 because it's going to be a sunny day, but it may be as bad as '03 since that too was a sunny day.

    It's a complete clusterfuck at this venue. There is only one entrance/exit to the parking and it's a maze of cones and barrels once you get inside. Get there early, or don't get there at all.

    I've been here at least 5 times-- there is only 1 way in and out like another poster said- Parking opens at 4p (although someone on another Bristow thread said he heard for fan club it opens at 3 since our tix window opens then). Youll want to get there as close to 4 as you can- Weather looks nice, 72/sunny, so that should cut traffic down. As far as boozing in the parking lot, I stick w/ solo cups/cans, no bottles..The only time I see police walk through is when they're looking for under age- but you don't have to worry about open container tickets..

    Got the day off and I plan on tailgating all day, I'm a pro at it (Happy Valley proud). Website says lots open at 8am. I plan to be there by say 1 or 2pm eating, drinking and playing some tailgating games. Hope many can make it out and make a day of it. If it rains come say hello and stay dry under the Penn State canopy.

    You may want to call the venue, on the Porch, people called the venue and were told the lot opens a 4 and 10c members can get in at 3.

    ditto to this venue being a pain with traffic and worse with bad weather. saw Radiohead there in May 2008 - torrential rain and flooding, a lot of people didn't make it to the show. hard to get in and out of there, and there's nothing near the venue, so bring your down drinks/food if you're gonna hang out before the show. i have friends who've been there a few times and reported similar experiences.
    but despite all that, i'll be there this Thursday! i'm just planning on getting there early.

    I'm checking into hotel, hope room is ready, then heading over to lot. If I can't get in, going to Ale House to check out Wishlist. My eye is on the prize. In the lot.....in the venue.....poster.....BOH......PJ.

    Wife and I will be heading down from Frederick. Plan on getting there by 2. If they don't let us in, we will wait.
    Weather is looking ok. I am saying a high of 66 with 80% cloud cover. Looks like little chance of rain.

    I might call the venue as well or just get there at 2-3 and wait a bit if I have to. They say 'no tolerance' for booze but you'll be ok as long as you don't have any bottles out and drink out of red or blue plastics cups. The cups are a MUST.

    So looks like 10C tickets don't start till 4pm.

    It probably isn't as big a disaster as it used to be to get in there (but I won't make promises). I-66 is now 4 lanes each way, where it used to be 2 lanes; a lot of the problems used to be due to backups on 66, but that is much improved. If in doubt, get off at exit 47 at 234 Buiness... which is before the posted exits if you are heading west, and find your way from there.

    yes, they told me 4pm when I called as well. When I told them that we received an email saying 10C windows open at 3pm she said that fan club members would be let in at 3. Just need to show your ticket confirmation.
    Two summers ago for Rush I got there a few hours before the lot officially opened (along with hundreds of other fans). Everyone simply parked right outside the lot on a side road and cracked the coolers.
