Matt's use of wrist bands vs. drum gloves?

Looks to me like Matt switched from drum gloves to wrist bands after the 2000 tour..

anybody have some background on this or make a correction on that date I might have it wrong..

I think he looked more badass with the gloves..

    I'm not sure about why he chose what... but if you take some time off from drumming, the calluses on your hands go away, and the you can easily over the course of a couple of songs develop blisters that suddenly pop and burn your hands for days.

    If he was using gloves, I'd guess it was because he didn't have calluses built up to protect his hands. Or, maybe it was a dry season, and dry hands can cause sticks to slip out of your hands.

    Just a guess though.
