MLB 2025 World Series

Hard to say. The article says there are 16 voters. Each gets 4 votes. So the nominee needs at least 12 votes or 75%. I hate that Marvin Miller is a candidate. Not that he doesn't deserve a spot. I think the voters might vote the oldest players first. I'm surprised Dave Parker doesn't have more homeruns. There are players with lesser stats that were voted in by this committee or the Veterans which what it was before.tempo_n_groove said:
You are correct so, one or more of these players could possibly get in.igotid88 said:
I think this is for players who have been retired more than 20 years and is their last chance. But I could be wrongWobbie said:

• Steve Garvey
• Tommy John
• Don Mattingly
• Marvin Miller
• Jack Morris
• Dale Murphy
• Dave Parker
• Ted Simmons
• Luis Tiant
• Alan Trammell
Of these 10 Tommy John gets in for his almost 300 wins.
Morris should get in for his arm in the World Series.
Miller should get in for ruining baseball, lol.
Garvey, Murphy, Parker are all on the cusp but won't make it.
Mattingly, Simmons, Tiant and Trammell were all good players but will never get in.
what you posted could work for the Hall of Good.
So again I'll ask.
Who gets in?

My 4 are Mattingly, Parker, Morris, and John. But my guess is one of those will be replaced with Miller.
And I know people will say. So and so has more hits or home runs than Mattingly. But so and so played at least 5 or more years. And the numbers are still close even with that advantage.I miss igotid880 -
Wow so Blackmon and Arenado both got dissed. Anti-Colorado boas. I don’t see how Votto is a finalist. The Reds were fucking terrible. You should not be an MVP finalist on a last place team. I loved when he played but his numbers aren't good enough. Hell I don't think Jim Rice should be in.0 -
Koufax retired early and he's in. Just saying the numbers on most of the guys aren't that great. And he played less years and has similar numbers. If you want to go by WAR. He's probably 4th or 5th of the players he's up against in this ballot. His OPS vs the batters is better than most on this ballot. And he has 2 baseball related nicknames (Hitman and Donnie Baseball). That should count as half a votetempo_n_groove said:

Bias against Colorado is like saying players on teams south of the 44th parallel shouldnt be finalists bc they Play in warmer weather all year, which helps the ball travel.tempo_n_groove said:

Some shitting on the Redlegs going on here!

Odd to see Jason Heyward win a gold glove -- he sat almost 40 games this season. That works if you are a catcher -- but a fielder?
I don't expect them to vote for Votto to be the NL MVP but you cannot look past those numbers.
Player 1
117 runs
166 hits
36 HR
120 RBI
94 bb
.297 average
.563 slugging
.966 OPS
147 strikeouts
Gold Glove winner
Player 2
Played every game (best of 3)
106 runs
179 hits (best of 3)
36 HR
100 RBI
134 bb (best of 3)
.320 average (best of 3)
.578 slugging
1.032 OPS (best of 3)
83 strikeouts (best of 3)
gold glove finalist
Player 3
123 runs (best of 3)
168 hits
59 HR (best of 3)
132 RBI (best of 3)
85 bb
.281 average
.631 slugging (best of 3)
1.007 OPS
163 strkeouts
gold glove finalist
I give it to Player 1 personally - even though he didn't have a single hitting category that he was the best of this group at.
Just so happens Player 1 won the Gold Glove at his position & lead his team to the postseason.
BUT...the other two guys played on shit, losing clubs.
Neither had any pitching.
Hell, the Reds had Gold Glove finalists all over and hit very well. Worst pitchers in baseball. I don't get penalizing Votto for that.
Joey Votto:
1st in NL OPS
1st in NL in BB (not even close)
Far and away NL On Base % leader @ .454
4th in NL Batting Average
6th in NL slugging %
tied for 6th in NL HR
6th in NL runs
7th in NL hits
tied for 10th in NL RBI
played every game
only struck out 83 times
gold glove finalist
Did all of this on a team where most chumps would mail it in 3/4 of the way through the year
Gave a teammate a donkey for making the ASG.
Pretty great year.
Andre Dawson won one year when the ShClubs were in last place. It won't happen again, but I don't think there was a better candidate.
Goldy should win - I think the other 2 guys get a tip of the cap for having great seasons but I do agree the winner is on a winning team if he is in the ballpark, statistically, with the top players in the league. Last place or 3rd place -- losing is losing.
The love he receives is the love that is saved0
