Looks like the Marlins playoff hopes are gone.

all 10 of their fans are pretty bummed.
Only interested for Mattingly. Losing Stanton even though he wasn't hitting has hurt the offense

holy shit - cubs and giants fans - glenallen hill is the manager of the albuquerque isotopes. who knew?

as a Giant, glenallen could have the best and the worst ABs. I remembet seeing him strike out on 3 straight pitches in the dirt.

not a rockies fan but we get all their games.....during tonight's rain delay, they are showing anything they can come up with....

Todd Helton? I would vote that fucker into the HOF. definitely before a DH in boston.

Glen Allen Hill was the typical mid level steroid user back in the day. Could hit the ball a mile every once in a while, but looked pretty silly most of the time.

    Check out his home/road splits.
    Pretty drastic.
I think his vote will be interesting since no Rockie has ever made it.
He also had his best years when everyone was having "career" years.
I know a lot of voters won't vote for him because of his ballpark.

all good points but I was impressed by his 17 year, one team career and .316 BA. HR's apparently don't mean anything to the HOF anymore.

I noticed that the other night watching game 2 of the series on tv. I can only fathom it's one or more of three things:
    Fans already giving up
Fans busy with their kids going back to school
Fans more concerned with the Ravens pre-season

Hopefully not the latter. While I enjoy football, baseball is light years better. Our national past time for a reason!

I agree. Leaps and bounds better! Unfortunately most people don't think like we do.

Because they are too simple to be able to understand the wonderful chess match that is a baseball game (especially NL style) and sll the strategy that goes into the game.

  • ^Absolutely correct on both points! The biggest complaint I always here from the casual baseball fan, or the non-fan, is that "baseball is boring." Really?! Every single pitch is a completely different situation. Every player is preparing to be in the right spot to make the right play.. The mental preparation that goes into each play - before, during, and after each pitch - is obviously beyond your dimwitted brain if you find baseball to be boring!

Im a point where I don't even enjoy discussing baseball with casual fans. I greatly enjoy conversations with other fans who have a knowledgeable understanding of the game, the greatest game on earth!

The worst are the "I don't mind going to a game, but I don't like to watch it on tv" people. Yeah, so you can go to the game and play on your phone the whole time. Just admit you only go to be outdoors and drink beer.
  • I also don't like the fans who insist the NL needs to adopt the DH. If you believe that you are not the kind of fan I want to discuss the game with. The DH strips the fun and a lot of the strategy out of the game. The AL needs to dump the DH rather than the other way around.
