it would suck to be an astros fan who went to every home game…serious cash for admittance and “concessions” and not a single win. same at home for rangers’ fans but they’re feeling a little better today.

So are you saying he only played 50% of the games 100% of the time by then?

yep I know this and didn't think of the years, whoops.
  • Should be Preacher Roe and Erskine that faced Yogi.

It's rough for sure. We went to the ALDS game that they won at home this year. We almost went last night....had the tickets in my cart, but we decided to watch it at home.

It was a rollercoaster of a season for sure, but still impressed that they made it as far as they did with the constant injuries and struggles they had. Still a tough pill to swallow to lose at home to the Rangers. I couldn't watch the Rangers celebrate at Minute Maid. They kicked Houston's ass for the last 2 games and I have no clue how the Astros hit so well with RISP away from MMP then can't do it at home.

I have a feeling Dusty will be retiring. While I appreciate what he did for the Astros (and the game, of course), I think it's time to give the job to Joe Espada. He has been the manager-in-waiting for years and I think he'd do a terrific job. Other teams think so too, so Houston may need to act quickly.

To fans of the teams left, enjoy!!! Playoff baseball is hard to beat...except when it's World Series baseball. I'll be watching as a diehard baseball fan and hope for a great series.

    But, damn. Ugh.

Tucker looked way off in this series. He's a good fielder (won a GG last year), but he just seemed lost in the field and at the plate.

    Alvarez is a beast.

the first time tucker missed catching a HR, the wall messed up his jump. hence, he got about six inches off the ground. the second one, I think he mistimed his jump a little. I’d say he missed both, combined, by about a foot.

reports are the giants are hiring bob melvin (not don mattingly).

not a sexy hire, but it makes sense…bay area roots, former giant with a relationship to the GM from their oakland years.

he didn’t get it done with the big money padres, but the giants are a totally different team….young guys and not a bunch of “look at me” prima donnas. some of the giants thought kapler’s clubhouse was a little too touchy feely… hopefully they respond to a more old school type of manager.

I get what you are saying, but everybody always wants a major market team in the finals. Yes, they draw the ratings due to their respective markets, but if you are in the league you are in the league and should have a chance to compete for the championship. Otherwise get rid of all the small market teams and have a NY/LA/CHI premier league.
i think it is good for all of the major leagues to have all markets represented and have a chance to win.

***Except the Phoenix Coyotes and possibly the Oakland A’s which are both detrimental to their leagues lol

Dont disagree, but the teams are mostly boring.  Each has one player who seems exciting, even to a pretty engaged fan.
If it were some exciting, unusual teams, I'd be more excited.
As is, I'm interested to see where it goes.  Expect Texas to win but everyone counted the d bags out, each series.
So long as it is not Mets, Yanks, Dodgers, Astros, Red Sox, Cubs,  or Cardinals....this guy is happy to watch.
    (Would watch anyway...)

  • I wonder if this is the first championship series/game in any of the four major U.S. sports where the two teams are named after their state instead of their city. Arizona vs. Texas. This is the only interesting tidbit I can think of for this series.....and it's not even interesting.

I'll be rooting for Texas. Never won the World Series and it's always seemed to me like they have a pretty passionate fanbase in spite of that.
