He's a bad coach and Girardi is a good one. Mattingly never won as a player and I doubt he will win as a manager.

A bad coach whose team won their division 3 years in a row. With no bullpen. No 3rd starter. Offense is not good. But Girardi misses the playoffs the previous 2 years. Loses the only playoff game they played this year. A playoff they barely missed in the last week of season. But his job is safe.

Just saying he's not a bad manager. Not saying he's the greatest. But I don't get the hate he gets as manager. It's become the cool thing to say he's a bad manager. It's perception. I don't mean a high quality 3rd starter.

Divisions mean nothing to me if you don't go to the WS. Girardeau has a title.

Thanks to Tex and CC. And A-Rod having his best postseason since 2004. Also Mariano, Jeter, Pettitte, Hughes, Hideki, Damon, and Cano. And bad managers don't make the playoffs. I like Joe but sometimes he gets too much credit

Girardi is not getting fired regardless even if the start they get off to a slow start and he is also a much better manager than mattingly. The Yankees have over performed these last few years, the dodgers have under performed.

I like mattingly as much as the next guy, well no one likes mattingly as much as igotid, but it makes no sense to hope your team loses to hire a mediocre to average coach

Also, it is a testament to Mattingly as a manager that Ethier thought it was okay to go ape shit on his manager during an elimination game. Can't see that ever happening with Girardi.

Well it's true Girardi almost missed the playoffs this year and was still not in danger of losing his job. But I beg to differ about the Yankees over performing. They have better players than the Dodgers overall.

it is retrackable, but I believe MLB has the actual say if its open or close for playoffs. During the season its up to the Jays if they want to open or close

Stop, dude. This year the Yanks played very well for a majority of the season, but the last couple years their run differential indicated they had no business being in the position they were.

Listen, I think the Dodgers stink. I'm not defending their roster. How a team has a $300 million payroll and Justin Turner batting clean up is beyond me, but you can't point to one thing Mattingly does well. He is so so in game and it doesn't seem like his players in general care for him too much. Say what you will about Girardi but there was an article on Grantland that pegged him as one of the best bullpen managers and how many PR, blow ups have you seen with the Yankees, with the largest press following them? Everything is in house. I think it would be idiotic to blow things up simply for nostalgic reasons. If you can give me something that Mattingly will do better than Girardi sure, but the Yankees aren't in the nostalgia game when it comes to on field performance (outside of Jeter these past few years)
