Is there a doubt in anyones mind that Jose Bautista is on something?
It looks weird, but it's too early to judge. He's passed all the tests, right? Maybe he just finally figured it all out.
Yeah....59 career home runs in 1700 at bats, 50 home runs in around 500 at bats. Seems a bit strange to me. Definitely seems strange to me.
The guy hit 10 of his 13 home runs last year in one month. That would mean he's been juicing for the last year and still hasn't been caught. There's only three reason why that would happen; he's not on something, he's very lucky, or he is on something they don't test for.

What month was that out of curiousity? I mean, he has passed all his tests, I just dont get how a 30 year old ball player can have a jump like that so quickly.

September, the one and only month he received regular playing time that season. The guy's just having a lucky season. He's a dead pull hitter and pitchers have been dumb enough to leave it in his wheel house.

I read something during spring training about how bautista comlpetely changed his swing. During the year he has admitted that his load and ability to see the ball have made all the difference.
He doesn't look bigger physically, but what do I know. Definitely a weird phenomenon
Bautista's body shape has not changed at all, hence, no more muscle mass from last year to this, so no
it's a combination of fluke/outlier year, confidence from playing everyday, adjusting in swing, and Cito

Toronto Blue Jays centerfielder Vernon Wells scrawled a ballpoint pen message on a baseball and lobbing it at a heckler. The message read: "Dear Mr. Dork, Here is your ball! Can you please tell me what gas station you work at, so when you are pumping my gas, I can yell at you!!! Now sit down, shut up and enjoy the game. Your favorite centerfielder (Canadian spelling), Vernon Wells."

This shit is hilarious, although it is about 2 years old (maybe last year).
Griffey gave a dude who was heckling him his jock strap in LA.

Now everyone knows there pulling in $150M before anything else. Phillies gambled on themselves and they keep ad revenue from TV broadcasts, so it's a mystery how much they have to spend. Very interesting.

And Craig Calcaterra put this in context, the Dodgers take in $45 mil from TV, Yanks under $100 (although they own a lot of YES), so $150 is a huge number and is idiotic for FOX.

Actually sounds like it is not $3 billion. More like $1.5-$1.6. That makes a whole lot more sense, still a lot.
So everyone knows - The 10th Inning sequel to Baseball from Ken Burns is on PBS tonight.
hopefully, Ken can overlook Bonds' various "issues" and portray him as the stud he was!

i don't think jose bautista is on the juice ... the guy is getting regular playing time and he's in a system that employs a very aggressive approach to the plate ... the jays lead the mlb in home runs as a team because of this hitting philosophy ... guys like john buck are having career years also ...
plus he's only hitting .260 so, he's definitely swinging for the fences each time he comes up ... as for mvp - i don't think so ... guy is a pretty decent RF and can play 3rd Base so he's definitely good defensively ... but to me - mvp should make the post season unless they have like a monster year ... and of the guys not making the post season miguel cabrera has to be on top of the mvp list ...

Agreed with the Josh Hamilton pick.
On the YES broadcast last night they said not one of Bautistas home runs have been opposite field. I find that pretty crazy.

oh yeah ... dude is a pull guy for sure ... which i think indicates his power trajectory ... he isn't muscling balls out of the park which you need going opposite field ... he's basically free-wheeling and looking to pull one out of the park each ab ...

From what I read, Bonds is a huge part of it.
Outside of what specific teams have accomplished, you basically have 2 major stories: the '94 strike and the rise of steroids. I imagine that the McGwire/Sosa summer will lead into Bonds and his records, which will lead into a segment about the steroid era in general.
I expect the major team accomplishment mentioned will be the Braves from 1991-2005, Yanks under Torre, and Boston finally winning a WS. I'd like to think the White Sox finally winning one will get some time, but I've got a feeling it will be overshadowed by Boston.
I'm looking forward to watching it though. Should be an interesting addition to the series.

We shall see. Yanks can still outbid anyone, just depends on how high they are willing to go.

Yeah, we'll see.
And it is about time they got some kind of TV deal done like this. They can't use the "small market" arguement anymore.
Maybe they can take some of that money and figure out how to put a roof on that stadium.
