too funny....he created the family research council and has supported the boy scouts in kicking out gay people, was an expert witness in the arkansas case over preventing gay and lesbian couple from being able to adopt , was an expert witness in a similar case in florida and now....

he is caught going on a 10 day all expenses paid trip with a companion he got from a male escort website, rentboy.com

he claims he rented this escort only to carry his bags for him and that he was being like jesus and trying to help and convert sinners

Typical. And just further proof that the more someone professes to find homosexuality "wrong" or "disgusting", the more likely they are to be sitting at home fantasizing about it :)

Yeah, it sad that the religious culture turns what should be a healthy, happy gay man into a disgusting hate filled hypocrite.

    this does not surprise me

there are a lot gay and lesbian political figures who are in the closet and speak out against same sex everything

there are very few Barney Franks, and I believe he started out in the closet

I have heard about a few gay rights organizations that make it part of their mission to call out known homosexual members of congress that have a history of voting against pro gay legislation.....

Good ole George Rekers claims he not gay, he's just disabled. He is so disabled that only a homosexual, male escort can provide the 'lifting' services George requires. This excuse is funnier than Larry Craig's bullshit.

Funny how they all seem to like gay sex, yet every time one of these idiots get caught, they evoke Jesus Christ as their savior, that they are not homosexuals. Why do people continue to defend and support these hypocrites!!!!!

No one would care if he was a homosexual, except for the fact that he publicly denounces homosexual, except for the fact that he sits on boards and is considered an 'expert' on anti- homosexuality. He has influence, yet, he's a closet homosexual, no wonder he actively supports the boy scouts - nothing like opportunity.

Or the married, father of four, Californian senator who has been described as a "fierce opponent of gay rights" who led anti-gay marriage marches in California, and voted to deny homosexuals anything resembling equal rights in California (even voted against a day of recognition for Harvey Milk)... who was busted on DUI charges after leaving a gay nightclub with a male companion, and ended up coming out of the closet after the story broke.

seriously, how does one become an "expert" on homosexuality? its not like there is a degree in that, or peer reviewed journals that one can research and publish articles into to become an "expert"....i think his expertise comes from being a self hating closeted gay man..

I think he's an expert on homosexual issues in the same way I'm an expert on Def Leppard. I don't publicly admit to being a fan, yet I can magically name all five guys who made Hysteria.

I really feel sorry for anyone who has to live their life with such shame and self-hatred. To me it isn't about being a hypocrit at all, it is just sad he was probably raised in an environment that made him so angry at himself. I really think we would all be happier if we could all just admit what we are and be treated equally.

I think the hypocrisy comes with age. When you're a kid and you don't know any better, then you're just filled with self-loathing.

But, surely, as you age, shouldn't there come a time when you learn right from wrong? When common sense should kick in, and you should know that what you're doing - hating yourself and everyone like you - is bad?

You hear a lot from some religious factions that homosexuality is A) a choice, and B) a sin. Well, if you're a gay man in your 30s, you've probably figured out that you didn't get a say in your sexual preference any more than you got a say in what color skin you were born with. Knowing then that A) is clearly wrong, shouldn't you then start questioning the validity of B)?

I don't know... as a straight guy, even one with gay friends, I'll never understand what it's like for people wrestling with that. I agree with you though - it would be so much easier if everyone just admitted who they really were, and we all get along. I never understood people who were against equal rights for homosexuals - I've been happily married for three years now, and if the government suddenly legalizes gay marriage, I'm fairly certain my marriage won't fall apart at the seams because the institution has been ruined.

I find it funny that a lot of the more vocal people speaking out against equal rights for homosexuals on the grounds of morality aren't the most squeaky clean individuals themselves. As Jon Stewart once said of Rush Limbaugh (possibly my favorite JS quote): "He believes in the sanctity of marriage so much he's completed three of them."
And I listen for the voice inside my head... nothing. I'll do this one myself.

There are probably a lot of closet homosexuals for one reason or another might deserve your sympathy, but good ole George is not one of them. He's just a manipulative f--k, who makes a living off of bashing homosexuality while engaging in homosexual practices. If being gay is all in a person's head as he claims, why can't he stop his cravings. He knew what he was doing and why. It's who he is. The shame he should feel is for all the people he hurt and lives he destoryed in order to make a name for himself.

People accepted him as an expert because of his educational background and his Family Research Council affiliation. Little did they know his expertise is based on experience and denial.

I wasn't trying to come across as sympathetic to this guy, I just think it is sad that people feel they need to live a lie. Actions are still what dictate what kind of sympathy someone will get from me. No matter the reason when a person acts like a jack-ass they deserve to be called one. I don't feel sorry for him specifically, more so I feel sorry for everyone who has to live in a society where this occurs. Hope that makes sense

Totally. I never understood the mindset of different = bad. If someone has a different skin color, or a different sexual preference, then they must be bad. Makes no sense at all. Having a certain skin color, or sexual preference, or religious orientation, doesn't make you bad, and people shouldn't be forced to hide who they are because they're in the minority.

I've known African Americans, homosexuals, and atheists who were among the finest people you could ever meet... yet to hear some people tell it, they're the scum of the earth simply because they are "different."

The thing that makes this newsworthy is not the fact that he is Gay... it's the fact that he heads up a foundation that touts 'Christian/Family Values' and lays fault with homosexuals. No one gives a shit if they are gay... and most people with half a brain know that gays are not the problem with the world. Lying fucking hypocrites in positions of influence and power are. The same thing with that Methhead/Mega-Church leader, Ted Haggard... filthy airport public restroom dweller, Senator Larry Craig or creepy old naked towel guy in Congress, Mark Foley. They all claim "Family Values!!!" "Chrisitan Values!!!" and stupid fucks buy into that shit. When it's revealed that they bang glory holes in airport stalls or rent boys online... stupid fucking people dismiss it as, 'Well.. he's not a REAL Christian... " and follow the next closet case that shouts, "Family Values!!!" "Christian Values!!!".
Which is perfectly fine... if your family values involve random male/male sex in stinking public shithouses. It's not about gay sex... heterosexual sex in a filthy stinking public shithouse is the same thing. It's not the sex.. it's the filthy public shithouse. No one cares about your sexual preferences, unless you make it a big deal to persecute others... with you own self-righteousness.
    ...
So, when you come around me and try to convince me about 'Family Values' and shit... don't get pissed if I tell you to fuck off. How do I know, you aren't just like those lying liars who lie?
